i've hit 140+ mph quite a few times and my car feels like its gliding. ive had the top up and i do hear the flap flap flap of the wind, but that doesnt seem to have an effect on the ride quality. but honestly.. i dont have time to pay attention to that flapping noise only because im concentrating on driving safely.

140+ mph...Driving Safely?????? :?

depends on the road and conditions and driver ability...

cant say Ive noticed any instability at any speed...
+2 Although I've never had mine over 130MPH. Solid as a rock. Pay attention to road conditions, other cars, and pay attention again.

I think they get a bit light at 100mph.

Lets put it this way. I'd drive at 150mph, but I'd not want to make any emergency manoeuvres at that speed, so wouldn't do it on most roads with random and varied conditions. Ie, deer running out, patches of oil, etc etc...

hugely tyre dependant too. My non-runflat Sessanta's give great confidence at high speed, I've hit the limited and it felt fine. But +1 for being tiring at that speed.

Odd I've had my car at 130mph on the track and often hit 90-100mph on highways (read speeding) and have never felt a bit of instability. But then both the Falken 452's (probably about 115mph max with them) and Michelan Sport PS2's are excellent tires. I also have the horizontal strut bar (I highly recommend for roadsters!) so that might be a reason why mine is more stable.

Not long after buying mine took her up to 140mph felt fine until a little twich think it was a bump in the road bloody scary what ever it was but at just under the same speed top down in France on a decent road felt fine.

181mph indicated in my Z4MC on the German Autobahn.. that was with a remap that removed the limiter. I suspect, judging by the difference between GPS speed and indicated at UK motorway speeds, that was somewhere ITRO 173-175mph (real speed)...

Also, although I know it's not a 3.0, but I've never had an issue with stability at speeds up to around 150mph at least. I have to say at that top speed run we did above though, you didn't want to be making any sudden inputs!

That's the thing :)

Any car is stable if you don't want to do any manoeuvring. It's when you need to you realise how normal road cars don't like to do things in a hurry at speed :D

I'm pretty confident in the Z4 that the ESP and general stability would allow me to do a Elk manoeuvre or other avoidance techniques quite nicely up to about 100mph, but above that I think the car would be much less able to do dodging/swerving. You want an F360 or something with real down-force and high speed aero optimisations to be good up at 125mph+, imho!
