How fast is your roof?

So, after spending £650 with walkers autotech for a new roof motor I was very surprised at how very quickly it now operates. I had not noticed that before it finally went it had definitely slowed down. Probably due to the build up of corrosion of the motor and wiring.

I timed it today at only 6 seconds from start to finish in the down mode and only 7 seconds to close it. It may give an indication of the state of health of your roof motor to time it against that.

Great job by walkers, they only took 3 hours to complete the job and to modify the motor housing to try and help with water ingress. :D

Mine is about that quick after fitting a new motor. Not including the windows going back up though - that's the bit that takes the longest!

Some 6,5-7 sec that the hydraulic pump is actually moving the roof down.
With initialisation@ windows its a bit longer

So your roof seems to be working as it should right now.

The E89 is like a slug!

Mine is pre smarttop yet and lowering or raising the roof at lights nearly always catches me out - it's like a time lapse film!

Hi Kat

£650 all in? Supplied and fitted? Is that the place in Telford?

Thanks
Lance

Hi Lance, this was fitted by Andy Walker at Walkers Autotech at billingshurst in surrey.
it does show me that even a year ago when i bought my used Z the roof motor was actually corroded and beginning to fail. Any roof thats not operating in the 6-8 seconds range must be showing signs of a problem to come.

Hi Kat
Thanks for link to Walkers I am also in Chi and as I have a credit of £500 from Chandlers ( to do with Roof pump )I will get the Inspection 2 free but then I will look up Walkers for the future :D

I checked the time it takes to my roof to open today -6 secs, new roof motor fitted last month by Autotech Performance,Telford.
