How far up the foodchain is a modded Z4M?

A friend of mine is picking up his m2 this month, can't wait to do some side by side comparisons with my z4mc!

The M2 is a $52k car in the US but a £44k car in the UK, at today's $ to £ conversion rate it should be just £36k here. I suppose that's the benefit of the UK being part of the the EU market at work! :headbang:

you shouldnt complain on car prices in the UK....
Where I live that same car has a base price of £63k.....hows that for taxes :o

Just across the water....netherlands.
Probably the most expensive car nation when considered price/average national wage. Only norway and singapore are more expensive (but also much richer)

15hp from the Eventuri and a Tune? thats impressive :D

I love my Z4m, but its not a really quick car by any standards, but its quick enough for me, maybe even too quick on some sections of track, the car rotates very, very quickly and you need very fast hands to be able to catch that sometimes. Ive driven a few different cars on both road and track, and not many give as much of a smile factor as the Z4m, none at all at the price point where were at. actually thats not true, i had a hell of a time when i was a younger lad bashing around a Ovlov 340 diesel around the back paddock, mud going everywhere and ended up hanging to pull said volvo out of the pond as it nosed in after hitting a few strategically positioned ruts.

For me to have a car i love and also a family to support and raise, at this bang for buck, nothing else comes close thats as engaging and fun to drive, stock or modded.

on a additional note, sometimes the modding is not just about adding performance, sometimes its the journey of the build that is as much fun as it is driving the car, sometimes more so.

Mauritius too. You can quite easiliy exceed 200% duty on anything over 2ltr.

It's £46 - 51K here, depending on spec - not so bad considering that Australia usually markets European cars at a hugely inflated price (for example, the M4 is £30K more here than in the UK).

In my experience, having had my Z4MC built for 6 months now (and having done several trips to the Ring, Spa, and Zolder), the Z4mc chassis can be incredibly well sorted. Almost race car like considering that it doesn't yet have a roll cage.

I often find myself passing Cayman GT4's, 135i Cup cars on slicks, 997 GT3 & RS's.

My car has a standard engine other than a Gruppe M induction kit,
KW Clubsport,
upgraded engine & G/Box mounts,
Cobra seats and harnesses
apex arc-8 wheels with R888R tyres
BBK with Performance Friction 01 pads
4 plate LSD (Makes a HUGE difference).
H&R adjustable ARB's.

You can check out some of my footage on youtube by searching Daniel Gannon Z4M or by following the Car-iconics channel.

I also travel Europe giving driver tuition, so if anybody would like some then please get in touch.

I might take you up on that if you're ever in Cyprus. I can pay handsomely in souvlaki and zivania! Only after the drive of course.

Jokes aside now while the Z4M is a very competent car, especially with a few choice modifications, it's usually the driver that makes the difference! A good driver in a decent car can outdrive a mediocre driver in a faster machine..

Taking it on face value and ignoring the 'yeah but you can mod any car..' approach, I'm under no illusions when I say I think a modded Z4m would be very special. I've no doubt I will have another which I will mod, and with the right fettling I reckon it could stick it to some much 'beefier' machinery.

Mine had very light mods and would still give grief to the 5.7 litre HSV's you get around these parts at the right circumstances (but then in fairness, someone I know has a monaro that will get out traffic-light-derbeyed by a 350z all day long.. I think with the right money spent, superchargers etc they'd easily be giving much more modern creations a run for their money
