How do you usually wash? one bucket? Two bucket?

Just curious really. Most people know the idea behind the two bucket wash - but had a discussion with a guy that I was bouncing ideas off today and he thought it was sacrilege that I go the other way and use no buckets and so don't tend to stock much in the way of buckets etc.

How I see it, spraying the mitt directly is a far more fool-proof way of decontaminating your mitt - you have zero chance of getting debris back on the mitt. You also get a consistent amount of shampoo etc.

Anyone else out there tend to wash their car bucketless?

People come up with new fangled ideas all the time, another gent there was telling me why he'll always three bucket wash

Yep, the way I’ve seen that done is by applying a second coat of snow foam then using the mitt covered in shampoo over the top of this. Rinsing the Mitt after every pass with the power washer. Logic says you should reduce the potential for dirt, but it all depends on the time you have to devote to the wash part of the car. I’d estimate this method would take an 20 mins to the wash to do that properly.

I use a hose pipe and a sponge. :o I am expecting my Zed to disintegrate at any moment.

3 buckets for myself.

1: Wheels & exhaust
2: Car shampoo
3: Rinse

Prior to that I spray lower body with Citrus cleaner, leave to dwell and then snowfoam

I use the "no bucket method" too.

Just a fiver and a couple of Eastern Europeans.

Haven't thought what I'm going to do after 29th March.

No never don't t do it. They will wreck your car.

My mate puts his black 911 in with the local Albanians twice a week. It’s almost impossible to describe how many swirl marks there is on the car now. He thinks they’re just marks on the ‘wax’...I don’t have the heart to tell him the ‘coating’ he got from dealer is long gone, there is absolutely no paint protection on the car at all and your paint condition is shot to s**t.... :headbang:

Twice a week? Bloody hell!
Putting aside from pisstaking for a millisecond, it's Such a tiny car it only takes about 3 mins to run sponge over it, why pay anybody?
I'm bone idle but I wash it myself.
By comparison the wife's passat estate is Like the forth bridge.

Exactly. Washing the Z4 takes no time. That’s why the family x-trail is always dirty. It takes about an hour to wash and dry

Two bucket method for me too, plus fallout remover on wheels.

If I have more time I will citrus spray bottom, snow foam then pressure wash off then do the two bucket wash. But after either wash method the car gets dried with some Sonax or ceramic detail spray and a microfibre cloth while it's still wet

Pressure wash, snow foam, sponge & spray wheels, pressure wash again then microfibre. 40 mins. Oops, exhaust tips... no wonder they look :oldman:

Some gold comments in this thread!

My method:
Snow foam pre-soak
Two-bucket wash for the bodywork, starting top down, back to front
Rinse bodywork
Then wash the wheels with the remainder from the main bucket
Finish off by drying it all off with a couple of microfibre towels
And finally a good coating of wax to seal it all in.
