How do you open the gear select panel?

Can someone please tell me how to open the plastic panel that surrounds the gear shifter? It's that panel in the centre that houses the gear selector, leather boot, and gear shifter.

I have removed everything around there, but have no idea what you are talking about though. Maybe a picture of which part you mean? Once removing the leather of the gear selector, the rest of the console comes out as a single piece.

1st, if neccessary, pull gear selector off.
Insert thin shim like plastic pieces around both sides of the cover (you could use plastic scrapers). Pull cover upwards by holding it's sides with your finger tips. (it is clipped at several locations around the selector lever) Always pull upwards in order not to break any of the clips. Disconnect various wiring from under the cover.

Last, buy yourself a TIS cd on ebay!
