How do you dry?

Big absorbent micro fibre towels. Bought a bag of a couple hundred of the things at Costco (yes, we have those here too) which is going to last me a while ... like, forever.

I've got a reverse osmosis filter mounted under my kitchen sink - takes aaaaages to make up filtered water so can't imagine using it on the car.

Sure, item PVMF from here:

Some very old leather, my dad also bought me one of these:

But I only use it on the scirocco as its great on the flat bodywork..

Bought a DI vessel which filters the water to 0 ppm for the final rinse, so no more drying.

How does this prevent the need for drying? Just wondering as I might have a go!

The filtered water leaves no water spots at all so you just let it dry naturally.

I recently bought a large "waffle weave" microfibre drying towel, but I have to say its performance is very disappointing. It does absorb a lot of the water, but not all of it and still leaves a very streaky finish. I've even washed it a couple of times to see if that helped, but it still no joy! I end up having to finish off with my good old Meg's synthetic chamois, so am thinking I just need to buy a larger one of them...

No towel will dry it all in one pass though... I do a panel at a time, then use a smaller one to finish. I am soooo impressed how fast I can dry my car now :D

I used this and I was able to dry the car three times and it was still absorbing water quite happily: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washing-and-drying/drying-towels/dodo-juice-soft-touch-premium-drying-towel/prod_947.html

I do it like that too. I have a large waffle weave towel and use a smaller microfiber towel next to it. After drying I always quick detail the car, Poorboys QD+ or Chemical Guys V7 spray sealant, the V7 is really nice and easy to use.

Might seem a bit odd, but I drive my car at a steady 40-50 mph to a local village and back. Same route each time I wash it Then I dry it with a hand towel when I get back. :)

Thing is, don't you find you pick up dirt, even on that short drive ? I actually read that you do that in another post, and whipped mine up and down my road just to get the water out of the nuts round my 108s. Worked a treat, but my 67 ear old neighbour did ask (tongue I cheek) if I thought I was Speedy Gonzales  Wasn't even going fast...

I am a bit of a Sunny day driver, so the road is usually bone dry. Any little bits picked up come off on the towel.

I supose I could buy a hair dryer it is a roadster. :D

Because my Z4's so shiny and covered in the wax 8) the majority of rinse water just beads off anyway. Finishing the rinse with the nozzle off the hose (i.e. just a big stream of water) helps draw the beads together and off the car, meaning less drying. I then finish off by pat-drying with an Autoglym synthetic chamois. Been using this method for years and doesn't cause scratching or the like.

I second this.

Once done to remove any streets I go over with a micro fibre towel and quick detailer, gives show room
Finish and adds a thin layer of protection also
