Windows down upto about 30mph. I've seen the damage a stone in the temple can do at speed

How's having the Windows going to stop that :?

Out with the old classics in my v8 MGB some years ago, pal in his car in front of me both with windows down. Making good progress through country lanes when rounding a gentle bend at about 60mph a quarry wagon going in the opposite direction sprayed some gravel across the road. Peppered the side of both cars, hit me in the cheek and may pal in front in the temple. I was cut but he become dazed and confused very quickly, fortunately he stopped before he passed out. He needed hospital treatment, the cars needed paintwork. Another pal with Windows up had similar damage to his car but no personal injury.

I estimate the gravel was about 10 mm diameter from the other pieces we found in the car. Police weren't interested, didn't catch the quarry wagons reg or company.

Gravel came in from the side so windows up would have prevented my cut cheek and his hospital visit.

Can still come over the windscreen though. Just ask the three other zeds that went to Scotland recently. I'm still finding it in various places in my interior.

I'm a roof down windows down guy, usually tutting at windows up drivers! :poke: Even Mrs PtB alows it - mostly 8) .
No deflector.
If it's cold, I'll put the windows up at speed on the motorway.

I was wondering if he only found out about this problem after a visit to the proctologist... :o

As said a few times depends on the conditions. Been out today and windows down all day. Driving back from Scotland last Sunday windows up. But always roof down.

(Ok I confess the roof was up driving up to Scotland, but then it did rain for 600 miles.)
