How do you deal with snags on the outer fabric roof?WITH PIC

Hi all -i posted a couple of days ago about a snag/pull on the top of the gutter fabric on my zed,i spoke to a coachtrimmer/fabric roof specialist who said i could just snip it off,but as i dont want it to get any worse he then said they do a fabric paint to dab on it to stop it running,but my question is do you have the odd snag/pull on your roofs and do they bother you?-tbh with all the cat on roof pics i would of thought there would be a few with them?-thanks

Got a pic? I'd not cut it personally. As a snag the thread is intact. If you cut it and it isn't held by the fabric paint it "could" pull and create a run. Hard to tell though without seeing it.

Yeah i dont fancy cutting it-i will try to take a pic.

Would renovo stiffen up the frayed snag to stop it getting any worse?

Can't you carefully poke the snag in with the end of a thick blunt darning needle taking care not to puncture the neoprene layer beneath?

I suppose i could but just to be safe i wanted to cover it with something.

Tbh i dont think i would puncture anything as its on the top thick part of the gutter.

+1. It does look like it's been scraped. Has it cut the threads? At least it's on the "beading" and not on the main roof

Forgive my perhaps insane thoughts.... but with something that size could you not just singe it with a lighter?

Certinly with clothes thats all I do as it would stop a run occuring if you were to snip it and it get loose again.

I'd be tempted to just push that inside with a pin or similar. Perhaps pop a tiny amount of glue in on the end of the pin to hold the snagged part inside. Nothing to be too concerned about though, I had something similar on my e85 at the rear of the roof where it meets the boot. Never got any worse all the time I owned it.

Thanks for all the ideas chaps,knowing my luck if i tried to singe it i would set fire to the fookin roof!-agree though it looks as though something has been scraped along it

What clear glue can anyone recommend?-so i dont burn/melt the fabric :roll: -thanks

I would still use super glue. Apply very sparingly as the glue will darken the fabric and make it a bit shiny. Push the loose bit down with a pin as the glue sets to get it to stay more or less flush with the surrounding area. At the same time, work the glue down into the fabric because it will want to just sit on top.
