How do you connect an ipod to the disc changer?

Anyone in the UK have any ideas on how to connect an ipod to the disc changer. I understand this deactivates the use of cd's in the changer but as long as I can acces 6 playlists on the ipod instead this is a better outcome in my eyes. You still have the front slot anyway? I've heard its CD quality?

If anyone can point me in the right direction that'd be great. Cheers, Pacey.
Apologies if this has been discussed previously. I couldn't find it.

I've got the Intravee and think it's a superb bit of kit. It has been developed and made in the UK but is sold via bimmernav in the States. Can't recommend it's functionality enough, it will give you much more than 6 playlists. It has to be bought in conjunction with an Alpine KCA-420i so you're looking at about £180-200 for both pieces of equipment. You can go further and retain the CD changer but this entails buying an Alpine CD changer and Alpine connector and adds a lot of expense. I kept the use of the CD changer but now I wonder why I bothered because the Intravee makes it obsolete IMO.

Here's a link as to how to access the CD changer cables, there's plenty of room in there to mount the Intravee and KCA-420i using velcro tape or cable ties. It's not a complicated install if you're just bypassing the CD changer and it's all plug and play.

different answers from different people will be what you get here.

Dension IceLink Plus and DICE units are favorites.

My choice is the Dension IceLink Plus

I agree that DICE and Dension products will get the most recommendations here but I think that's largely to do with the fact that the Intravee has only been available commercially for a few months. It was available only for beta testers during it's years of development and the time spent in that development has made it a system far less prone to bugs and flaws than either DICE or Dension products. That's all IMO of course. It would be rash to dismiss the Intravee because it isn't, up to now, as well known as the others.

Don't forget that the DICE doesn't work with the new iPods though, which the Intravee does.

I have had the icelink plus in my previous Z, and now have the intravee. Worlds apart in functionality.

I have the Dice on 2 cars now (my wife's X3 and my Z4) and if the Intravee had been on the market when I set up these cars I would have done it in a heartbeat.

The Intravee gives you the ability to bring in external device interfaces via Alpine's bus interface. This means you can also get Alpine's Sirius interface, XM interface, the iPod interface , etc. I had an Alpine iPod interface in my Honda S2k along with Sirius prior to buying my Z4 and the device interface was light years ahead of the Dice unit. Once I hear what is going on with the Sirius/XM merger proposal and Alpine offers a new bus device for the combined channels I intend to dump the Dice on the spot and grab the Intravee so I can get the media content. The Intravee plus a Sirius receiver is a lot cheaper than the BMW Sirius solution right now and has a much nicer iPod interface..
