How do we get it so wrong.....

Excuse my ignorance but if they are an ILLEGAL immigrant surely they get f**k all?

Legal immigrants might get this, but isn't the whole point that if they are illegal, they sneak in to the country. Hence the government doesn't know the numbers that have entered and stayed etc.

So this would suggest after sneaking over the boarder the first thing they do is officially register with the council?? Lol

It just shows what nice people you are feeling sorry for us Pensioners, and thank you

I think if you haven't paid into our system you shouldn't be able to take anything out. :)

I Dont think the facts are fully accurate, but it is a joke that immigrants get free money/houses/healthcare,and alot work on the side too,and are better off than alot of working people, and pensioners.

What this Con-dem govt has done since getting in,is pledge(and give) BILLIONS EXTRA foreign aid(ontop of what we were already giving) to India, etc,to build schools and the like.....while cutting Loacal Authority budgets and Armed forces cuts galore..by the same amounts :headbang:

Charity should begin at home,Mr Cameron!!

Surely the point here is that nobody likes a freeloader, myself included. I've got no access to statistics but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the majority of freeloaders are British born & bred

Sensationalist bullshit. The figures aren't correct. However that is not to say I don't agree with the sentiment.

Sorry, you can not say that until you have facts to back the statement up 8)
No, it's for AlanJ to provide evidence for his claims.
Without any evidence, it looks like he's just copied and pasted something from a spam email

Appreciate it's interesting & important to have an open forum, though feel it's important if anyone airs such views that they back up their statements. Too many are too easily led by the Media, such as tales of WMD's & planes crashing into the Pentagon etc... so Alan as a respected member of this forum where did you get this info pls?

From the internet, as it appears that a growing number of our fellow citizens, cough, tax payers - Are also concerned with the weak and woolly nature of the many policies and handouts that the EU and UK carry.

Suggest you check this formal response from the Department of Work & Pensions - these claims are formally rejected by the DWP, but as we know some have found a way to seriously milk the system by living in million dollar houses paid by the taxpayer

They say...'I should first clarify that illegal immigrants are by definition unable to claim or
qualify for any benefits whatsoever as they are usually living in the UK
unknown to the relevant authorities.

There is no standard benefit that asylum seekers can receive in the way
suggested by the information you have received. Since 3 April 2000, asylum
seekers who require assistance are offered support by way of a cash
allowance for living expenses and in some cases, accommodation. This scheme is administered by the Home Office’s Asylum Support Service. The weekly asylum support rates from April 2011 are £36.62 for a single person and £72.52 for a couple over age 18.
The United Kingdom is a signatory to the 1951 United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Refugees. As a consequence we must fully honour our obligation to consider all applications for asylum made in this country or at our ports. In order to qualify for asylum a person must be outside his or her country of nationality and have a well founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion.

In the event of an asylum seeker being granted refugee status, they are subject to the same rules of entitlement to benefit, and rates of benefit, as United Kingdom citizens'
