Tried to do a bit of car DIY today, armed with a roll of sticky back vinyl and a knifes + scissors.... however failed on my first hurdle!

I need to remove the clear inserts which are inside my roll hoops.... the things with the coat hook attached to them.. I have tried tugging and prying them off but they wont budge.

Do i just need to apply more brute force? or do i need to remove the actual roll hoop covers first?

Tried RealOEM and i cant even find the wind deflector bits - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BU52&mospid=49303&btnr=51_4918&hg=51&fg=40

Thanks

I know it should probably be obvious from your post, but are you trying to wrap the hoop covers?

At some point I'm going to have to pop the hoop covers off myself, my plastic insert thing keeps rattling on the passenger side, used to be infuriating when I couldn't trace it! Now I know what is rattling it's not so bad, but I do want to fix it.

just the tiniest bead/smear of clear silicone on a couple of points will stop them rattling for good.

Cheers - that's a good tip, I'll try it out - that said, I'm a bit clumsy and will probably make a hash of it.

aquazi - i think you have to be very careful when unclipping the hoops as the clips are one way and once snapped wont be allow to click back togethe. Similar to Dev - my inserts were rattling and i advised my Dealers that I was unable to change them myself for this reason so complained due to a design issue - they replaced my inserts under extended BMW warranty following that.

If they really are clear, as opposed to mesh, then they aren't OEM? :(

Not true unless your term 'mesh' refers to a mesh like pattern imprinted on an otherwise opaque piece of plastic. OEM are def not fabric mesh.

Thanks guys... i dont want to try and remove the roll hoop covers... so will try laminating them with the covers in place.. that damn hook on them just gets in the way!

I am indeed planning on wrapping my hoops matt black.
