How do I remove MPH - RPM Needles

I'll be replacing my stock needles with red striped ones soon. I'm 99% certain that they come off just by lightly pulling them off (by prying with a fork for instance). I was also going to mark their initial position on a piece of tape installed on the gauge face, to put the new ones back exactly at the same location.

I would however like confirmation from anyone who's done this before.

Mmmm sounds like a delicate operation to me. Perhaps they are an original push fit but do they use a dab of glue in the process to ensure they are secure? Perhaps a careful study with a magnifying glass just to confirm before a very gentle tug......

I remeber a friend changing the dials on his TT from KPH to MPH and used 2 teaspoons to remove the needles.

The figure you need to look at is 19 (translated below)
FIGURE 19
Now remove the four needles of the cockpit display. Pry it slightly
(without rotation!) out using two teaspoons.
Observe the temperature and the fuel gauge needle position
(the needle must be positioned later in the same position)

Thanks guys. Marking the needle positions was something I planned on noting (with pencil mark on piece of tape) and from the reverse view of new needles I ordered, they certainly look like press on only.

I hadn't seen the spoon technique before, it probably offers a more balanced pull off effort.

Having taken my dial unit apart already, the Borg system uses an electrical control for the needles, not a spring loaded mechanical one, so ensuring that the new needles go back to the same position, calibration should remain the same.
