How do I programme key to open roof

Your key should lower the roof without any coding I think, you have to hold the unlock button for the duration of the operation though & it won't raise the roof from the fob either.
You need a gaptec to make it more convenient

Have you lost the function? I don't know how you reprog the key without taking it to a dealer for features like 'comfort open' which is what you seem to be missing. Have you tried standing closer to the car and holding the unlock button? Make sure the car is unlocked first otherwise it may only unlock the car and not lower the roof (unsure). Does the 'comfort open' feature work if you put the key in the driver's door and turn the key to the unlock position and hold it there?
Edit - if you have more than one key, have you tried both keys?
Now might be the right time to invest in a Gaptech RCH+ module - how the car should have come from BMW

Thanks all, I was to impatient on the key presses. Roof opens from the fob and closes on the key in the door

That'll do for me

Carly app??

Google carlyforbmw and all will be revealed!

Nearly purchased it then until I noticed you gotta pay £40 for the android app then!! :o

Considering I was quoted around $300 just for the dealer to 'have a look' and see if they could code it (not actually code it, just see if they could do it), this is a bargain in my opinion. I have the INPA & NCS Dummies software, which is more powerful (and cost nothing), but there is a lot more faffing about with it, whereas the Carly app just works and codes pretty much everything I want. Plus it is still being improved - I noticed last time I updated it that a couple of new options were available for coding.

I think the Bluetooth/wifi dongle thing is about £60? You can use a cheaper generic one but lose some capability (allegedly)

How much is the software plus hardware
The cable and adaptor I bought to use with INPA/NCS work perfectly with Carly, so I didn't have that extra expense when I bought the Carly App (so I guess the cost does mount up when you add the cable to it). You can buy a lot cheaper on Ebay or Ali Express, but they are so hit and miss that I just went out and bought the more expensive cable recommended by forum members that was known to work 100%.
