How do I know which bluetooth ulf I have?

I have integrated Bluetooth and I basically can't use it because when I hook the iphone up to it, it sounds like I'm talking to demented Daleks. It's basically useless most of the time but other times the signal is spot on. It can be both good and bad for landlines and mobiles alike so it's either the iphone or the bluetooth (or both). I had a Parrot kit in the last car hooked up to the iphone and it was much better than this though still not perfect.

I know that bluetooth implementation on the iphone isn't great but wondered about upgrading the ulf in the car. I spoke to BMW about updating the software but they wanted £200 for the software + time for installation.

Also I know that the iphone supports A2DP for music - can bmw headunits receive this?

Your post is a little short on detail ie year
However I have no problems with an iPhone 4 and a 3G , both work fine with my 07 Z4 using iOS4 and OS 3.1.3 previously with the 3G
just seen the music ?
Don't believe BMW supports music
There is a new F/F option that appears to support phone and music using USB as an alternative to the basic f/f USB option, details on their website
Try doing a search something rings a bell about the ulf unit ...........depends on year ! I think

Lift the carpet on the rear bulkhead. Lower left hand corner where the bulge is. Read the part number and post here and i'll tell you which of the 13 generations of the ULF you have.

Not really sure where you mean. Do you mean the carpet on the upright section? If so it's stuck down. Is there a way if lifting it without potentially damaging.

It's an 07 coupe. What does f/f mean?

Open the boot and look at the bottem left corner on the rear firewall and you'll see a large rectangular bulge in the carpet about 9" by 6" That's the location. The ULF is in a carrier under there

Carpet should not be stuck down but you'll need to pull out a few press in and bolt together plastic clips to be able to lift it up.. Those on the floor press in. Those carpet to carpet bolt together. If it's glued in then someone has been messing with it

Never said it would be easy :)

Here's the list:

Factory Fit
Your coupe is same vintage as mine maybe even a little newer .Assuming Bluetooth is original my iPhones work fine with it yours should too.

I know it should because of what other people say which is why it's frustrating. Maybe o should try deleting the pairing and re-pairing it.

Ah ..yes that is the best first line of attack if you have not tried it .
Make sure all pairings are deleted esp if you are not the first owner and start from scratch

I had trouble with mine (after I had paired my phone with my computer to try to download the phonebook) and had to delete from car, delete from phone, turn off bluetooth on phone and turn it back on, repair. Worked fine after that. I think the important step was turning off bluetooth then on again.
