How do I disconnect this...!!

Ok, I'm trying to disconnect the 12v ashtray compartment section from the button selection panel but am really struggling with this last connection. It's the one for the 12v charger, I've tried pulling, pushing, wiggling, moving other bits etc etc but it won't budge. Feels as if I push it anymore something's going to go snap...anyway, this is what I'm talking about:

By the looks of it in the pics the tab sticking out on the bottom of the plug needs to be lifted then it should slide out :)
 
That's what I thought, it looks like it should just slide out but honestly I've tried that, both ways, to no avail...It's stuck wedged right on!

Reason for removing is the flap for the 12v ash tray console thing is broken, it won't click closed. Minor I know but it's the last thing left on my to do list and one popped up on eBay so bought it! So in order to change, I need to remove this darn connection!
 
Have you tried pushing something in to lift up the tab as lifting the tab with your finger may not be enough :thumbsup:
 
Does the replacement unit not give any idea of what holding it on. I would think the middle white tab need pulling away from the black bit next to it.
 
Right, I've sorted it. Must of been having one of my extra special blond days! Yes, you were both right. Needed to pull the middle plastic bit to one side and then it slid out! What a donut I am...! Still, it's free now. But...bad news is the replacement one I've got, the bloody charger doesn't work on it :headbang: So back to square one and will be getting a refund from fleabay. God damn it!!
 
Can you not swap the charger out of it, I had my charger part out not so long back.

Might give that a go over the weekend, cheers. Although there could be a few more daft questions coming as a result! I'm so much more DIY after being on this forum, which I guess is a good thing :)
 
Just a quick question if I may - how did you get that section out to start with?

My new zed has a flap that won't fully open over the cig lighter, feels like there is something stuck behind it so want to take out to investigate.

Hi there, well you basically just pull up and towards you (the gearbox) in a sort of 45 degree diagonal direction. It just pulls out quite easily, the whole unit that is. Then once out, you can just start disconnecting things. The button panel is secured to the ashtray console by 3 screws.

Just give the thing a good tug, be brave, it won't break! Good luck :)
 
Ok :cry:

I'll have to try a bit of fishing first to try and move whatever is stopping it from opening already, but if that fails I'll go and give it a good tug
