I feel for you, had a similar situation with an E46. Did you try programming the keyfob using the master key? Or is the battery dead in that one too?

If you want to glue the keyfob back together try that sugru stuff, apparently it's ideal for that kind of job.

I'll try and find sugru, cheers. I used evostick sticks like **** on it before and it stuck extremely well. Unfortunately it fell apart when I dropped my keys whilst in work, so it's not a very durable adhesive, I guess :lol:

I think the master key lost the sync with the car, for some odd reason. The secondary key was completely dead, although the new battery has completely cured it.

Only issue is the boot unlock button on secondary key doesn't do anything. It must have been coded out at some point in its life. The boot unlock button works fine on the master key, so glueing that back together is the priority now so I can begin using that key.

The early z,s are now getting on in yrs and are becoming more of a weekend car than a daily.Good news the key battery sorted the problem.
