How can I tell if my car is an SE and what it means?

Hi all, just wondered regarding the above question.

I have an E85 2.2 and few sites I have been to, upon entering my reg number, it says "SE", but I don't really know what that means and the differences between an SE and a normal car?

Any advice appreciated

The SE is the 'normal car' - it has standard 'sports' seats, standard 'sport' steering wheel and SE springs that sit higher than the M Sport springs.
The general consensus is that 'Sport' version with the 'M-sport' seats & 'M-sport' wheel are more desirable (deeper seats with higher side bolsters, and a chunkier wheel), also the lower M-sport springs reduce the arch gap and although its a harsher ride the car sits nice. You also get a 'Sport' button that sharpens the throttle response.
To confuse things further some SE cars are spec'd with M-sport seats etc as options

My 2.5se has sport button and xenon lights which I thought were standard on the SE? but maybe not.

My coupe was originally an "SE with Factory Sports Seats". It's since had M Sport steering wheel, M Sport gear knob & M Springs so the only thing differentiating it from a "factory" Sport model is the headlining, which is light grey in an SE as opposed to dark grey.

Can't speak for the coupe, but not the case on the roady (certainly pre-face). I had a 2004 e85 SE with no sport button (but nice m-sport seats )

I have an E85 SE with a sport button and M suspension.
I’d trade my sport button for M sport seats anyday but it is what it is.

My SE has no sport button but was specked with Msport seats heated manual, cruise control, leather steering wheel, 17 inch wheels, metallic paint, cup holders and a whippy aerial.

Being a 2.2 but more importantly pre facelift it can only be an SE as the sport wasn’t introduced until facelift.

As far as I know the only E85/86 models that had Bi-Xenons as standard were the Ms.

My E86 3.0Si Sport doesn't have them.
