How are your replica alloys sticking it?

For all the replica alloy people out there, how are your alloys sticking the british roads (in particular CSL reps)? I am intrigued to see if many have resulted in a waste of money for yourselves due to damage or whatever blablabla - the usual spiel that the OEM guys go on and on about.

This aint a thread for OEM guys to post threads about how crap reps are etc :)

I've got the BM Autosport CSL reps and have them on since last July. To be perfectly honest I cannot complain at all. They're looking exactly the same as they were back when I bought them and haven't dulled, cracked, warped or anything - even after suffering at the hands of the ridiculous potholes around here in Blackheath.

My only dilemma is fighting the small voice inside me saying "Time for a change. Go get a new set of wheels for summer 2011".
 
All I ever hear about is how bad the 108's corrode!! and I've just bought a set for my zed !!??! :? :D

unfortunately alloys don't like potholed roads full stop :( .... hit some in my local village in my daily (pug) over the winter which has original alloys .... flattened the inner rims a bit on BOTH fronts :x
 
I've got BBS LM reps from BMAutosport and the only problem with them is the lips corroding, but that's partly my own fault for not keeping them clean and waxed!!

The potholes here are horrendous aren't they!!! Have you driven up Hare & Billet road recently!?!?!

I have that same annoying voice in my head too.... time for a change.... get 19's.... but I don't know what! lol
 
i have bm autosport csl reps too , imo they are spot on , german made with all quality stamps
recent bmw oem alloys are made in china combine this with run flat tyres = cracked rims :(
 
all good so far then

you guys have too much money on your hands wanting a change of wheels

ive 108s at the minute and the signs are there that corssoion is about to start :(
 
i bought some csl reps from mstyle for my ///m and i can't fault them,the finish is spot on :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

I had 107 elipsoids on my previous Z4 and they were pitted all round the inside. I also have a set of schmidt alloys (which only get used in summer) but they seem much better finish and quality than BMW original alloys. mind you they are not cheap.
Also I have had genuine Schnitzer type 3 racing, which also bubbled up even though I waxed and cleaned them regularly, and they were £3k.

:rofl: That they are Skillick; truly woeful but I guess that's when you get when the village is co-run by Lewisham and Greenwich councils - fighting like feral children over who does what, when and how. Hare & Billet road is pretty bad, as is 'the monster' just next to the duck pond near The Princess on the way into Blackheath down from Shooters Hill Road. I literally have to drive on the other side of the road to avoid it. Oh, and dont try and drive up Wemyss Road either. Awful. I swear this place is built on an old mine system.

Hope all is well and the 'voice' results in some shiny new 19's for the summer. We'll have to get that talked about SE3 mini cruise sorted one sunny day soon too.

I drive variously straight over it (320td) or as widely around it as possible (Z4MC) each evening. It's just ridiculous. The first time I fell into it at any kind of speed in the Zed I almost lost control :x

I found what I assume is the "monster" next to the duck pond / Princess last night on my way home... my god what an almighty bang it made when I hit it (assuming you mean the small hole just before the speed bump and not the big dip just before the traffic island). Had visions of the wheel being buckled or the tyre going down, but all seems well so far.

Not tried Wemyss Road... though TBH I don't know where that is!!

Saw your car parked up, I do love the wheel colour/body colour combo, it just works!!

Definitely need to get the SE3 mini-cruise sorted when the weather improves. Got a few mods going on mine this weekend... so the new wheels will have to wait for a while!
