How accurate are BMW badge positions?

hi all,ive got the measurements for positioning the chrome wing badges, but am wondering how accurate they are at the factory?-are they put on by a template,or a tape measure and spirit level type job?-thanks.

they are put on by template.
there is a plastic 'tool' that is used basically a piece of plastic with the Z4 logo and a hole for the turn signal indicator that goes all the way to the end of the fender. They place the plastic on over the indicator/emblem, push the other tip into the seem between the fender (wing) and door panel, which ensures it is level, then press down. They pull off the template and the 'plastic' stuck on the top of the emblem.

The one on the trunk (boot) lid is similar where it lines it up with the top of the trunk and turn signal.

They are obviously put on by hand, not by machine.

If you can find it, watch the megafactories episode on the Z4 production. They show a worker putting the badges on a Z with a template as described above.

I was going to say that. The worker insert the badge into a handheld device, and then press it against the panel.

I just looked at Andy's message header and sat here in my kitchen saying "no no no no no no no....!" My wife asked me WTF was I talking about.....I didn't have the energy to explaIn LMAO!
