i gave my fuel spend but not insurance,running costs etc or loans / finance on the vehicles .
]i was more curious as to whether my Z was a folly i should cut back on as we don,t need the car & unless you are very lucky juggling homes,families & motoring can be financially straining .
incidentally i could reduce my 20% to 16% if i did sell the Z & go with 2 vehicles :thumbsdown:
I did some more accurate sums. My commute costs me £39 per month. A mix of tube and the Polo. Thats gotta be a lot less than most!!
In contrast my M costs me £118 a month without even moving it. Thats insurance, tax and an MOT. No wonder people dont want to bother buying sports cars in this climate!!

yeah your commute is thrifty
. i do £40/£50 in fuel alone on my 5 work days
the Z however costs me only £64 a month if it doesn,t move from the garage :roll:
Interesting question. I'm rubbish at maths so might take me a while to figure it out. Also do I really want to know..

Me thinks the good folk of blighty needs to tell their politicians to either start using the fuel tax to fix the roads. Or lower said tax to a sane level. Tax is THE only difference in cost of fuel between America and your great country. I believe the average cost of fuel tax in America is $.66 per gallon. And our roads seem to be in better shape.
I'm in the process of thinking about ditching my Z4! I have the Z4, my wife has a MINI. We both need a car because of work (we both have day jobs and we also both teach fitness classes in the evening and weekends at different clubs). We also have a "cheap" Y reg Diahatsu Terrios 4x4 for winter duties (mainly for me in the winter, especially if it's snowing, and transporting the mountain bikes in the summer). Had the road tax come through today. Only a 1400 engine and it costs the same as my Z4 because of the emissions!
That's a serious amount of money a year to spending on vehicles! The Terrios is starting to cost me also. Had to have the chassis welded last year to get through MOT and now some other stuff needs doing to it. Selling it and replacing it may not be an option now so I am looking at something like an Evoque to replace both the Terrios and Z4.
Not that we can't afford it, it's just possibly a stupid waste of money running 3 cars. Haven't decided yet as I would miss the Z4 if I sold it!
