⌛How many E89...

... are registered in the UK as well as in other countries of the Commonwealth?

Does anybody have an idea, how to get a current overview? Maybe somebody of you guys is working at a BMW partner and can shed some light on it.

Known registrations
~116.000 Z4 were built in total
~19.000 Germany
~4.000 France

Update:
~14.600 in UK
~24.000 USA (https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1842014#p1842014)
30.700 RHD
16.100 RHD in JPN, NZ, ... (30.700 RHD -14.600 UK)

Obviously there are several hundreds of E89 registered in the countries around Germany, AFAIK not more.

Where ist the rest of the remaining ~40.000 E89 located?

That search criteria is not valid as it includes E85/86 which were far more numerous..plus a few G29s..

Robbie if you want the exact numbers I’ve got a spreadsheet with the current numbers.,with a bit of effort I could do total numbers..

Do you want just a total or broken down in any way ?

Pls advise..

Yeh teh howmanyleft link doesn;t differentiate between e85/e89 - but you can do this by year manually, or by model.

But when you click into the details, you can see the exact models, and seperate out manually if you were so inclined.

It's a pile of work TBH, but at least some data is out there if you wanted to pull something together.

[ref]RobbiZ4[/ref], is this you working out if it's viable to retire and just fix E89 roof issues?

Thanks for this link. "sDrive" might be the key criteria to just filter the E89. Will copy it into an Excel sheet to summarize.

The following chart doesn't hit the truth, I assume:

2023 numbers only - Exact 9.900 E89 on the roads in UK or even impressive(!) 17.300 with the two "Mix?" rows?

My "E89 sDrive" filter might not be exact, so the according sums deviate from truth.

Well, that would be nice. I'm just interrested about the countries, where all these E89's are located.

In the UK these stats have those that officially ‘exist’ but not taxed for public highest use ..called ‘SORN’ and those that are taxed.

So you need to add both columns together to get the total number of possible E89s that still exist and have not been de-registered..

I’ll have a look later..

Thanks.
But I'm not interested in the absolute exact number. If there are about 12k in the UK, I'm more interested in the 80k or so E89's that are missing worldwide

Wow, that's much more as expected. Thanks.

Why? Are all E85/6 and G29s four wheel drive? I missed that memo. :poke:

AFAIK "sDrive" was introduced with the E89 not before.

This is great work and interesting for us stats and facts nerds 😊👏🫡

Quite surprised by the 14k+ in the UK figure thought it would be below 10k tbh.

I can confirm there is at least one e89 in Tirana, Albania. I saw it with my own two eyes.

……We should start an e89s-in-obscure-places thread

:D Perfect.

Finally, a confirmation for the remaining 59.999 would be nice.

The rest are in the Middle East as they are easy to fit gun supports to with the roof down. Those old Hilux' are getting a bit unreliable now! :)

Turns out that a bit of basic manipulation in excel was all that was needed - who coulda guessed.

Anyone have a clue where similar info is for wider afield? I'm not aware of other countries that publish this info (even if you do need a 7 year old to advise how to filter in excel).

In Germany it's public. Nevertheless, a bit of Excel work is required as well.
