Hosepipe ban - any creative "work arounds"?

With this on-going hose pipe ban, my car is not looking great. I know I could use a bucket, but it's a pain and furthermore I don't think it gets rid of the dust and bigger particles as well as the spray on a hose pipe does. Anyone found a novel way of still using the hose pipe (or perhaps some legal loophole)!?

By the way, this is why I think the ban on car washing is somewhat silly, read this:

One of my favourite uses for a hosepipe, weather permitting.......

You can put a tap on the end of a hosepipe and apparently it's no longer a hosepipe.....

Yes, you need the following:

Water butt (bigger the better) connected to a drain down pipe and full
25 L fresh water Container, type used by annoying caravaners
3 foot piece of hose pipe
10 foot piece of hose pipe
Hose pipe quick connector
2 jubilee clips correct size to clamp hose pipe
Piece of muslin cloth or dish cloth
Power washer of your choice ( karcher in my case)
Electric point nearby where you are washing your car, I use an extension reel

I guess you can see where I am going with this? :)

Connect the small length hose pipe to your water butt with the jubilee clip and cover the other end with the cloth and clamp using other jubilee clip (acts as a water filter taking out all the big pieces of crap.

Fill the water container with water from the water butt and take round to your car (helps build your muscles ).

Put the hoze pipe quick connector to one end of the long hose pipe and connect to your pressure washer, works with karcher. Put the other end of the hose right into the bottom of the water container, worth using a rag to help keep it from popping out.

Plug in your power washer, switch on and away you go!! takes a few seconds for the water pressure to build and isn't as powerful than when using mains but more than enough to wash your car.

Simples!

I only use about 2/3 the container which is a LOT less than using watering cans etc. all perfectly legal as well because you use grey water.

Questions?

Maybe we can make this a sticky??

If she was around, I would use the hosepipe no matter what the weather was like! :)

I think you can still use it to clean your paths and drives , so if your car just happens to be on the drive well it may just get a little wet . :D joking apart I have just laid a new lawn about a week ago we had one night of light drizzle than scorching sun since so every night as the sun goes down iam out there chucking buckets off water over it maybe 20 to 30 of them , crazy instead off 15 mins with Hose pipe . And what realy gets my goat is I left for work this morning about 7.00 and as I pull out off our close there's a great big bulge In the main road with a founting spouting out off it and this must off be going on for some time as it looked like a river going down the road with people trying to stop the water flooding there houses and guess what not a Thames water person to be seen . :x

I believe that you are allowed to water a newly layed lawn for something like up to 2 weeks after it was laid. There may be a stipulation that it had to be laid by a professional person during the course of business, but I know there is some sort of reprieve for this - you may want to look into that.

Thats what bugs me too, if they fixed the leaks, we would probably never have another hose pipe ban again!
