Hose pipe ban ...

Right if I have Thames water but live in Wltshire.... still a ban? yes or no as the report focus around the south east and am well south west, am hoping that am not but the map does not look promising :(

Interesting question, as the Thames is fed by rivers out west... I think ought to watch the local news or ask. I am sure they will focus their £10k per hour choppers further East though

Okay, but 15% of your profit is payable quarterly and dependent upon delivering against SLA's related to matching fluctuating demand, with a sliding scale based on your speed of response to changes in that demand, irrespective of whether it fluctuates up and down. These will sit over a fixed SLA for on-time delivery of 'sweeeet tastin' fresh water'. I'll go a bit easier on the reduced delivery SLA's because arguably it will be hard to sell any surplus back to the Scots. Any profit you forgoe by failing SLA's gets channelled into the Forum, via my 'company car account' for processing purposes. And if you don't like those terms I'll speak to the Welsh :P

You play hardball? If you don't meet KPIs I can change distributor, need to keep margins up ;)

Maybe if they spent some money stopping the blo*****y leaks in the network then they might be able to keep them from putting the ban on in the first place, :violent1:

Hmmmm according to FAQs on Thames water website you are NOT allowed to use a hose to fill watering cans etc. I guess if you take the hose off the tap then you should be okay, go figure... :headbang:

Oh and yes if you are washing cars as part of a business there are no restrictions. So if you want to make a few quid off your neighbours and wash your own car.

Time to hook the Karcher up to the water butt. Garden is going to get power hosed the next couple of weekends!

.............and the Farmers are already saying that produce prices will have to increase dramatically (headline.... "salad set to rocket")
Another good deal, do less and make the same money, I'm in the wrong job :?

Was that an unintentional pun, because it made me chuckle

Nearly went with "salad rockets", daft sense of humour formed in the era of the goodies, Monty Python, Tom Browns Schooldays etc :)

lol what a ban. we had a ban a few years back, could only use hose pipe every 2nd day, depending on your street number.

Now 1/2 the country is suffering floods and we have excess water to burn lol

Only 18 more hose-pipe-fuelled car washing days left in Lincolnshire (unless this is one big April Fools joke......)

The more I think about this the more it winds me up

And when does the ban end? They said on the weather report this morning end of April, but I'm not sure I believe that

Last time there was a hosepipe ban in Lincolnshire (around 21 years ago) it lasted 18 months ...

ewazix you should be making money writing tabloid headlines :)

The water butt thing was what a friend of ours did before the bans. They had a filter in the butt so they didn't get rubbish into it or out of it, but reckoned that the rain water was purer and left their cars looking better than when they washed them with Cambridgeshire tap-water. If I'd stayed down there, I'd have been investing in one.
I wonder how many greenies would be apoplectic everytime they see a clean car this summer because of wasted water, but then will happily empty half a dozen watering cans a day into their flower beds.

i must say PVR your dedication is amazing.

Would any legal loop hole let you resell your water supply to the neighbours/ water companies - like those who have solar panels?!

I am a little confused - if we are going to get bugger all rain how is the water butt getting filled ? Or am I totally missing the point of this dastardly plan ? :?

Fair points... Perils of reading a thread over a number of days and not re-reading everything ... PVRs for summer washing parties it is then 8)
