I keep hearing horror stories about the 108 wheels like rust and things.
Is their a thread with some pictures or has anyone got any pictures
of the problems with them.

looks like bad laquer

as these are split rims, do most have issues with the wheels only or the actual centre spokes too?

gannet, Cheers for that  the wheels, how old ?

Hard to tell how old those wheels were. I got the car with them on in Dec '06 and they were immaculate, I kerbed the front ones pretty quickly - that damn long nose took some getting used too  The rears had no kerbing and those pictures were taken in June this year - so 18 months after getting the car :(

Now I have some unmarked 203s :trampoline:

they could have been refurbished before I got 'em I suppose...

My centre spokes were immaculate.

2dogs It's certainly not rust as they are all alloy. IMHO there are 2 weak points where the lacquer layer get broken down:
1) between the edge of the rim and tyre caused by fitting the tyre or kerb damage and
2) between the 'star' and the rim, probabaly caused by minor flexing and movement at the mating surfaces

Both allow tiny amounts of moisture in and the corrosion of the alloy under the lacquer just runs away in it's ideal habitat. It looks aweful once it starts

The star seems to remain unmarked.

I guess it's the price to pay for having the best OEM wheel by far :)
