Probably showing my age ,but always wondered what 'hoon' actually meant: so googled it:

A lout or hooligan, especially a young man who drives recklessly
A term used in Australia and New Zealand, to refer to anyone who engages in loutish, anti-social behaviours. In particular, it is used to refer to one who drives a car or boat in a manner which is anti-social by the standards of contemporary society, i.e. too fast, too noisily or too dangerously.
To travel at speed in a confined area, or do burnouts on a public road in traffic ..
To show off in a dangerous manner, mostly with a vehicle or engine powered item .. Look at that bloody dangerous hoon!!

... and my favourite:

To travel at a high velocity, preferably in a car. He f**king hooned it down that straight! :D

I had to search a bit but reckon the following definition best describes Forum members 'hoons':

A word used to describe a person who uses cars, motorcycles, or marine power vessels for recreation and fun instead of getting from A to B.
