Honda S2000

It should do - mine does. There are elastic straps integral to the hood that keep it flat. These can stretch over time allowing the hood to sit up like that on an old Beetle convertible. I'm told they're easily replaced.

Roof doesn't sit flat. You get a cover that has lots of poppers to go over the top. Faff and hassle and the roof looks awful when it's down.

It's quickly losing its aesthetic appeal :(

The elastic has stretched Wyldie, it should be entirely contained within the recess behind the seats (not my car):

Hmm... well either way, it never sits quite flush. Admittedly the picture you've posted does sit better.
I still couldn't be faffing about with the tonneau cover to neaten it up.

I don't have a tonneau cover and every time I've considered buying one I've come across posts complaining about what a PITA they are to fit and remove. The integrated hood cover on the zed is undoubtedly neater than leaving the folded hood uncovered and it doesn't need to be removed by hand before operating the power hood either, but it's a newer design and a different kind of car (and in a higher price bracket when new).

This picture shows the roof a bit better when I first got the car 3 years old, mine was never flat, had a tonneau cover but never fitted it as it was to much hassle.
Bit of shame they couldn't hide the roof when it was down but it was all about the driving with the S2000.

Tried one before I bought my 3.0SE - TBF it was an early model ( 2001 ) - from what I remember it was a bit cramped for my freakishly tall frame - was a bit underwhelmed with the performance - needed to give it plenty of revs to get it going - to me also looks very Japanese and a bit dated - just my opinion though . Really baffles me why prices are so high.

As with some others, I owned an S2000 before buying the Z4. The Z4 is undoubtedly more civilised and less plasticky, but I really miss my S2000. I had it for seven years and apart from the battery packing up about a month before I sold it, not a single thing went wrong. The main thing I recall is when overtaking you don't drop a gear, you drop two, or three. Or maybe four. And it was all the better for it.

They have a big following from honda fans thats why the price is stable. Performance, you compare to the 3.0si! I dont think it has a patch on the bmw. Fixed steering wheel is a pain imo, high tax and insurance and less economical. I can see the appeal for honda fans but having owned a type r i'd take the civic every day. If its a car you want to hold onto fork out and try and find a gt model

for me it was all about how the car made me feel....
I enjoyed driving the z4m coupe but didn't fall in love with it, maybe because I didn't give it enough time and miles (only drove about 3000 miles in it)
For some reason I didn't love the Z4M roadster, I test drove 6 of these......I test drove 2 s2000 and loved them.....

Everyone else is spot on with the Honda s2000 characteristics, the shift, the vtec is a bit of a marmite thing, I happen to love it, and I love the way it looks also.

Had a S2k - loved it. Selling it was a mistake and i went to a z4c were i should have gone back to another S2000. I sold the z4c as it lacked the bite and deliberated on another but opted for the z4R M. The ///M is gives you the grin factor u get with the s2k n more.
As its been said the s2k is nothing until red lined were as the ///M is a beast at all RPM's :P

Had lots of fun in mine today once the had rain liberated the oil from the road surfaces

I couldn't live with the unispiring, boring quirky Japanese styling, but the reliability and build quality shames the Z4.

It's all about the engine and transmission - the rest of the car just happens to be bolted on to them!

I'm 2 days from trading my 2006 S2000 :o in for a z4 sDrive23i 2009 (facelift) with just 18,000 miles - totally immaculate, just like a new one. :D

If you dont like the tonneau cover on the S then try fitting and storing this carbon fibre one!

Will be selling this cover once the S2000 has gone. I am worried I will really miss the S, its my second and I've never regetted buying them, great engine and seats, but not really a nice interior. I've always liked the new new Z4, such a quality interior and it doesn't seem too much slower than the S despite the figures saying it should be quicker (hows that with on 200 BHP, whereas the S has 240).

My new Z has cloth interior and I've found some leather (not msport ones though!) as I feel I have to have leather in the car (or at least when I come to sell it). Hopefully this will be an easy swap!! Will post some pictures at the weekend

I've just PM'd you, but just in case, its the Z4 that's a 2009 18,000 mile car, not the S! That would be worth a large amount of money now!
