Any other fans on here?

I can't help but admire them, when I was growing up the Japanese cars that drew my attention were turbocharged and had big tuning potential however the NSX has aged well. The low stance and pop up headlights all hark back to a more "analogue" age.

An F355 was my favourite supercar for many years but I feel like an NSX would be a less ostentatious and possibly a more rewarding drive. Would be great to hear from any ex/current/prospective owners.

dreamy. saw a cherry red, lightly modified one driving around a japanese town a couple of years ago, awesome motor.

while i think i would actually be underwhelmed by the engine, i'd love to have one on a plinth in my back garden!
 
I think the engine is likely to be charismatic and from what I understand, was in a low state of tune with a fizzy top end.

Very interesting article from Gordon Murray about how the NSX was essentially the biggest influence in designing many aspects of the Mclaren F1 and contrary to popular belief it wasn't the association with the F1 team but his experiences with the NSX which made him approach Honda to design the engine and then on rejection, BMW.
 
Oh there are times when I so wish I had liked them more than I do. There was one for sale locally some years back that I went to look at, a leggy example, but at 21k If memory serves me, I could have made a killing.

Speculation aside though, I much prefer my Zed. Faster better looking and more fun. :D :thumbsup:
 
the original NSX were beautiful cars, especially late 90s models with the 3.2L V6. Such a rare car, gives the Italians of it's time a run for their money! Converting 3.0L autos to manuals are becoming common practice in Japan now as these tend to be in better mechanical/physical condition. £21K for an NSX!!! sign me up right now!
 
My mate had one back in the early 2000s and did a few track days with it with no problems.

His was a metallic black one with a bit of a fleck, similar to Z4 Ruby Black, but sadly it was a Cat C or D.

But when he was selling it Tony Rolt (former WW2 fighter pilot and D-Type Le Mans driver) came to view it with one of his sons. Although he didn't buy it - I think he bought a 911 instead.

Then in 2015 I went to a Pistonheads Sunday Service at Honda UK just after they had moved to Bracknell and sat in a red one that reportedly was driven by a certain Mr Senna when he was in the UK, and although it was an Auto it had less than 30K miles on it.

As special as it was I prefer having the engine in front of me and sitting near the rear wheels. :lol:

driving MR layout is a completely different beast. I was lucky to get to drive a friends Elise S with anger on the racetrack though almost needed new pants when the thing decided to step sideways mid corner going flat out.
 
At the time the level of bespoke engineering it took to build an NSX was beyond what pretty much every other manufacturer was carrying out. The aluminium body, visibility, technology and driveability was beyond anything maybe bar a 959 (technology). It's not really meant for comparison with a Z4M or a modern supercar. I'm pretty sure a Golf R would show it a clean pair of heels but that's not the point.

Even the engine with titanium rods, alloy block and VTEC was incredible considering it was the late 80's it was designed and to this day these cars can be drive as a daily driver and an annual service costs......£250.

I'd love an early throttle cable car or a late NA2 targa. An NSX type R has popped up for sale in the UK for a mere £150k :!:

So undecided on these. I Like them but I could never spend the asking price on one. I had a brief flirt with the idea but then ended up with the GTR. And I think that was the problem, they were in the same ballpark as GTRs, Gallardos, 360's, even the odd McLaren and each of those was a much more exciting proposition
 
One of the cars I wish I'd bought before the prices went through the roof. I remember seeing these for under £20k a few years back...
 
I drove one once, from the City Of London out to Witham. A friend of mine sold it to a guy in HK, I drove it out to the shippers for him as it was basically on my way home.

A great experience, probably the one and only time I’ll ever be in one, let alone drive it. The engine gave you that famous James May “fizz” almost all of the time. Apart from driving it the one thing that struck me was every time I stopped (which was frequently in London rush hour traffic) you could see people looking at it, because it was a gorgeous blue colour (Monte Carlo or Monaco blue I think)... but mainly as it was sooo stunning to look at and clearly 99% of the onlookers had no idea what it was.
 
A neighbour a few doors down had one (he owns a panel beating company and also had a Ford F250 for towing campervans - that thing was a monster on our roads lol), and although I appreciate all the engineering of the time that went into it, it looked quite dated. I guess part of the appeal was the 'under the radar' status and a daily driveability that few if any of the Italian equivalents could equal. Not knocking it by any means, but not a car I'd spend the current asking prices for.
 
I confess I love them and if only were possible (financially that is) I might seriously consider getting one.

Would love to drive it first though... :driving:

In a world of anodyne hot hatches and over engined sports cars this seems like a great antidote.

I’d probably go for a targa myself for the ultimate nod to the 90’s.
 
I will admit that I completely missed the point of these back then and I still do now. I could never understand why they were classed as a supercar...when the Supra from around a similar time was quicker. I've always thought that a supercar was supposed to be quick.

I have always respected the looks and handling of them though...just not the performance.
