Honda CR-V whilst down the rabbit hole!

At work now after a good but weird weekend.

Been married now for almost a year after meeting my wife 2 years ago. Just feels too good to be true, like I am in The Matrix!

All my clothes are washed and presented to me, ironed and folded to be put away. I get told off if I try to do any housework and I really do get looked after very well in all ways!

She is sexy and good looking, has a good job and has just qualified as a chartered accountant after working hard at her exams for about 5 years.
She likes drinking pints of good bitter and doing active things

So let me get to the point. Been looking to change my work run around car. Had an '07 Citroen C4 VTR+ 110Hdi EGS since new but miles are 106k on it now. it's time to change it plus I need something larger than I did when I bought it. I always have more passengers and luggage in than before.

Fancied a crossover style car with more space than the C4. So test drove a Yeti, Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V plus looked at a lot of others.
Came out liking the Honda more, hard to say really why. Both of us just wanted to be in that one out of them all.

After 3 visits to the Honda dealer near the end of my road in Poole, we managed to haggle quite a good deal so went and paid the £500 deposit on Saturday. Car is a Honda CR-V SE-T 2.2 Diesel AWD in white. Due early March. Its on the Swindon factory schedule to be built.

Got back home and my wife had booked us a long weekend in Munich for our anniversary in March. She has arranged things for us to do. 1st day BMW factory tour, 2nd day she just wants to eat lots and drink beer!

Just what is going on here!!!
 
I would say you have slipped into a parallel universe and we are all doomed!!

I don't know whether to say congratulations or give you a slap for being a smug git lol.

The CRV is a good choice and the 2.2d (whilst not the most economical) is great. There's a 2.0 petrol (which is absolutely awful) and a 1.6 diesel which is supposed to be very good.

My partner works for Honda and has had 5 or 6 CRV's in various colours and trims. The EX is well equipped but expensive. The SE is more reasonable whilst still having the bells and whistles.

Glad to know about the Honda. I think I got quite a good deal which included the 5 year care package. Looking on forums, I couldn't see too many problems with the Honda. Early adopters of the CX-5 diesel had terrible times. For a dpf regen cycle, it seems too much extra diesel would be injected too often causing it to slip past the rings and into the engine oil. Folks were checking their oil levels which were rising past max. Not good!

I'm quite looking forward to playing around with the CR-V actually. The Z4MR won't be neglected though :thumbsup:

What did you think of the yeti?

My dad has a fully speck'd one (TDI -140) that I'm considering as my daily when he wants rid.
 
I thought it was going to have a punchline, like it should be in 'on the light side' until I realised he was speaking the truth!

I really liked the Yeti. It looks different (which I like), drives well and there aren't too many about. I think the new facelift looks good. I would have gone for the Yeti Outdoor in the Laurent & Clement trim which has every extra you can need really. Carfile.net seems to have them for a good price. The only negative for me was that it really wasn't a lot bigger than the C4. It's based on a Golf size chassis I believe.

Yeah, I know what you mean! She also decided suddenly to give my daughter (17) her Fiesta 1.2 as a present. I will have to make sure I help get her a very nice special little car in recompence. She wants a nice bright coloured "pretty" little 5 door hatchback :)
