Homelink in rear-view mirror

Just bought a used 2003 Z4. One of the previous owners has replaced the OEM mirror with another BMW mirror with homelink. However, the homelink will not pair with my garage door opener. I also have a 2015 428i and that OEM mirror does pair with my garage door opener.

Does anyone know if a OEM mirror from a 2015 428i retro fit on my 2003 Z4?

I think thats brilliant and have always fancied having the garage door open When I get home, but I get round that by having one remote in the ashtray.
