Home made Lock Covers

Ive stamped a few of the covers out now and gave them a few coats of grey yesterday, they just need a clear coat and to dry before i post them out

They will just be white plastic as I'm not primeing them as they paint is taking fine to the plastic alone

Is that ok?

did you just put a small bead of silicone sealant around the edge of the cover to stick them on?
 
decided to go ahead and stick them on with some silicone, but as i was cleaning the drivers door lock, it pushed in, then i heard something fall off into the door :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

now it looks silly :( any ideas what i've done?

When you say fall off and pushed in, has the door lock pushed into the door? and not the cover?

It sounds like a your door lock cylinder was or is loose

You will have to remove the door card to so what's fallen inside,

So are you left with a hole at the moment?

luckily i managed to bring it back out a little but it's still in a bit :(

another job to add to the never ending list!

lock covers do look great fitted though :thumbsup:

Ahh that sucks,

Now from the looks of this: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BT52&mospid=47797&btnr=41_1477&hg=41&fg=40
The lock sits through the handle, and into part 4, and there is a scre (part 6) that holds the lock into part 4... Hopefully that screw will have fallen out and can just be replaced and nothing worse :thumbsup:
 
Arrived today. Looking good held up against the locks. Will add to the list of many things I need to do to the car!
