Holding back on a new Z4

The G29 is probably the best BM I’ve owned and driven tbh. As a Sports-GT it ticks all the boxes and the B58 engine is superb. The looks are absolutely not to everyone’s taste but I personally think it looks fabulous and judging by the comments of others when out and about, I’m not alone in thinking this. The fact there’s not many around is a real plus as far as I’m concerned.

Well said, yet to see one on the road yet other than at dealers. Hopefully G29 owners acknowledge each other :D

I gave  to passing White G29 on a shopping complex car park recently and got a nice wave back. I’ll keep it up and hopefully pass a forum car at some point. :)

A few weeks ago I finally saw a G29 in the flesh and on the road and I have to say the back looks great and the side profile is ok, it's just the front that I am not so sure about but I think it will grow on me. Overall though I think it looks pretty good!

Agreed on all points!

I’ve seen a few on the road, good looking blue model a couple of days ago.

Just had an extended test drive in a new one (48 hours), well probably a little longer. Didn't want to give it back :D Was the 2.0i with lots of extras. I previously had a 2009 Z4 23I.

Love the new car, very impressed all round. Currently have a 2018 Audi A5 convertible 2.0tfsi 190ps. I would be very interested in getting one now however there doesn't seem to be any deals around. Having seen how quickly the prices have dropped I am going to wait a year then look for a nice m40i. The 2.0i was a good engine though, however I couldn't help but think the car could have handled a LOT more power. Maybe the 3.0i is a good option as well.

30i probably the sweet spot given power and running costs all combined as you say Ian, I tested a 2.0 and it was fine, I was surprised how well it pulled, enough grunt in the real world, definitely it can easily cope with more but up go the costs. Tbh unless you want the noise the four pot is plenty in either guise. :driving:

Actually had a black 30i pull up near me on the village car park yesterday, pity I was in the wife’s Audi at the time! Had a chat with the owner, he’s really pleased with it, good to see another G29 right there in my neighbourhood.

My only negative comment about the g29 from the beginning has been the front kidney grilles, they just looked oversized alongside the rest of the front. However, I've now seen various spec options and colour combinations that in my mind do a good job of minimising that bugbear for me. So much so that I'm actually looking at an almost new m40i at the moment (no other engine versions have been released in this country so that removes any choice as far as what engine to look for). The prices are still shockingly high though, so like others I might just sit out another year and see what's available then. Shame, as I really do like the one on offer.

I’d buy a 2nd hand one today if I could find one with adaptive cruise.....

That old chestnut  I suspect it’s not going to happen John as it’ll need to be a new build to get it. You’d have thought the First Editions would have had it and at least one or two of the pre reg cars. I wouldn’t let it hold you back though as too many other positives for the car.

Waddya mean “That old chestnut”...?? Have I mentioned adaptive before...?? :hairdryer: :P

You’re right but it’s like a smooth single malt, once you’ve tasted it nothing else will do..! I mean really there’s no great hurry, I just want one yesterday... I’ll wait, see what pops up, I’d rather not go new build again for the nosedive it’ll take, but it might have be that way as nothing has cropped up after 11 months of them being out there. I’ll be doing a lot of motorway miles at weekends so either way it’s something I’m not prepared to waver.

I tried an M40i and liked it - Due mainly to the cost to change I decided not to buy as I didn’t fancy taking the big hit on my 35is to take another one three years later.

The car would also have still been on sorn just like the current car.
