“Fear of traveling” the dictionary says....I’ve been trying to sell my Z4MC apart from a dealer making a ridiculous offer, very few other people seem willing to travel any distance to buy a car. I’m only in the NE of Scotland!! I guess it’s because there are quite a few cars on the market just now nearer to where the majority of prospective buyers seem to be based (the SE). I personally have no qualms about traveling ie. the vehicles I own at the moment have come from Southport, Milton Keynes, Dorking and Macclesfield 😉 to me it’s all part of the adventure of buying!! I even bought an Elise from Southampton which he himself bought in Inverness!!

So many people have this  My brother was looking at a car recently, which was in Oxford. We're in Essex, so half way around the M25.

He said he wouldn't go with him to see it because it's too far to bother incase it's a waste of time :headbang: My brother ended up buying an inferior car (but one which he is happy with) which was only 20 miles away.

Got to travel for the right vehicle.. I flew to Bournemouth to buy my van, did a 500 mile round trip in said van with transporter on the back to get the Zed, and recently a 360 mile round trip with [ref]jamie_z4[/ref] in my ear to get the X5 :)

Maybe its the Aquarian in me but i have to agree op & always see the logistics of a cars location as part of the car buying adventure ( though i know many do not )
Ive had cars couriered to me , ive had them driven to my door (with me paying the expenses) & ive had countless car + train journeys to the ends of the country for the right car .
Those who won't travel are missing out on a huge choice of possibles but you do see cars in outer reaches taking longer to sell :(

Can’t see why anyone wouldn’t travel to buy the right car, my BMW’s have been bought from all over the country.....Chorley, Blackburn, Yeovil, Bristol, Colne, Aberdeen. I’ve bought a few more local to me as well but if the car sounds right to me, I’ll travel no problem.

Sorry to hear that OP.

I bought my 1st from Portsmouth and my 2nd from Rugby - a long drive home is part of the new car experience for me.

It's just a shame I can't afford an MC just now.

I hope you find someone who will travel.

I’d travel the length and breadth of the country for the right car, I’ve even imported from West Coast America too, distance should never be a problem for the right car

Oh well maybe there is still hope, judging by the reply’s I’m not the only one then😀
Thanks for the morale boost👍
PS I’m open to sensible offers if there is anyone out there looking for a Z4MC

I traveled to Taunton and Winchester from the North West for my Cars. Would never do a local serch for a Car...

..... but if the cars a dog then it’s an absolute waste of time /money . Too many times I’ve driven 100’s of miles to see ‘mint ‘ cars that turn out to be complete turkeys . Never again !

Op ..... drive it to me if you’re confident in the car and I’ll buy it :D

Depends what your buying. I wouldn"t drive too far for a daily shed. Though I generally look up to 100 miles.

I never let distance hinder my car searches.
I flew up to Inverness to meet the guy I bought my ///M from. It’s all part of the fun!

I'd go to the other end of the country of I was looking for a car. I do love a long drive and what a way to get to know a new car.

I flew in to Gatwick from a holiday and jumped straight on a train to Somerset to beat a supposed viewer when I got my zed. I've still got the auto trader screenshots I took when I found it whilst laying by the pool

I flew from Dublin to East Midlands airport, took a bus, a train, and a car to get to my Z4 and then drove it across England and Wales to get a ferry home.

Totally worth it! Got exactly what I wanted rather than settling for crap examples that were closer.

What is your location in the SE?

I went from Ft William to Manchester for a lovely MX5, also sold said MX5 to a chap from London who flew up to Glasgow Airport, I drove down to him and he gave me a bag of cash before driving back to London in it. Lots of High Res photos and videos were exchanged first though.
