Given his position it’s a tragedy that Starmer has neither.
From the second Trump asked Starmer permission to use our base in Cyprus we became involved in this war like it or not, Trump is here for another 2 or so years like it or not, hopefully Starmer will be gone in the next few months but that aside, we have been close allies with the US especially since WW2, we couldn’t have won without them, we don’t need to go into Pearl harbour being their catalyst etc, etc, here, it’s done, fact is we needed their help obvs. We need them now, like it or not, for trade and national security as we now have a pathetic armed forces in numbers terms. Look at the bigger picture, in 2 years Trump and Starmer will be in the history books, and we need to stay close to the US as I’ve said, plus we got involved when our Cyprus base was drone attacked. So you’re in, might not be what you want but now you have to deal with it, get on with it, but what does our jelly spined coward do..? He says no, citing international law, how much notice does Iran take of international law..? No prizes, sorry. Then he does his now mandatory U turn after he’s made us a laughing stock worldwide, now he’s crowing about ‘4’ planes and a boat, possibly getting there before all this is over, going there, ooooh…like he’s some kind of messiah….
I agree Trump has gone in too early, as Iran hasn’t gone nuclear yet, but they will, and that’s bad bad news for the world, but we don’t dictate what Trump does, we have to deal with what he does in the correct way, we show some backbone and strength, Starmer, yet again, couldn’t have done it any worse than he has, he’s made us look pathetic and weak on the world stage yet again, he’s a complete failure, liar, limp wristed U turning coward that cares more for illegal immigrants and general welfare for others long before the people of this country.
I actually detest the moron, which is weird given I’ve never met him, but that’s how he gets my hackles up.
Just my opinion, not saying I’m right, but anything that opposes Starmer can’t really be wrong can it….

I sometimes wonder if there is another angle with Starmer and this government, perhaps they are more worried about the enemy within? considering how many unchecked undesirables have been pouring into this country the past 10 years, all radicalised and ready to strike.
If there was ever a time to deal with the likes of Iran, now is better than never, I'm fed up of the likes of these countries led by nutter regimes spreading their vileness around the world. I don't particularly like Trump but at least someone is prepared to have a go, unlike NATO who prefer to hug one another and ignore what's going on, on our doorstep.

Depends which side of the fence you are, as to who the nutters are.
The USA are up there with the 'nutters' if you look from the other perspective (or even not). Trump is throwing immigrants in jail and out. Trump is abusing his Country's economic and now military power. The average American thinks that they are the only Country in the world that are important (many think they are actually the only Country in the world, as they are so insular). Americans are largely extremely religious. Religion has always been a good excuse to do whatever you want with impunity.
So I don't see a lot of difference between the 'western nutters' and 'eastern nutters' TBH. Except we are friends with the western ones, so they are OK.
Think I'll always side with a western nutter over an eastern nutter, at least our American cousins speak the same lingo

I read in the news today that the reason the ship has been delayed is down to the fact that the ship yard carrying out the work only works 9 til 5. It gets worse.
I am only repeating what is recorded in the Telegraph. Can’t vouch for the accuracy. Can you believe anything reported in the press?

So some non-descript Government minister flew over to Cyprus yesterday to 'give re-assurances' to the Cyrpiots. Without any hardware, his re-assurances are (like all the UK Government's) worthless. So we can afford to send politicians all over the world on military jets for 'politics', just not afford to do anything useful with them?
