There have been questions raised about the timescale it is taking for HMS Dragon to be readied and set sail for Cyprus.
The MOD issued a statement this morning explaining themselves:

"HMS Dragon started to be prepared to sail to Cyprus on Saturday 28th February. Unfortunately we found the ship to have a flat battery, so it was unable to start. A full investigation into the reasons why the battery was flat was carried out, with the results being published on Monday 2nd March. The reasons were determined that no-one remembered to attach the trickle charger.
On Tuesday 3rd March a purchase order was raised from the MOD procurement department for a new battery. On Wednesday 4th it was found that the MOD bank account didn't have sufficient funds to procure a new battery (£170 plus VAT).
The MOD asked central Government to lend them the money for a short period. This will be processed and a decision made in the next week.
If central Government deny the loan, the MOD will have to save up.
Assuming all goes well, a new battery will be sought and fitted within the next few weeks. The ship (assuming the captain isn't on holiday or off sick) will leave Portsmouth on around 27th March.
As long as the crew can remember the way to the Eastern Med, the ship should arrive off the coast of Cyprus by around the beginning of May to begin protecting the UK's assets in the region. Hopefully Iran will have run out of weapons by then, as we wouldn't want to have to use the ship for anything expensive.
In the meantime, the MOD are issuing advice to RAF personnel on Cyprus for self protection. We have asked that all staff travel to the nearest beach and gather small stones and pebbles which can be thrown at any enemy missiles or drones.
Thank you for your ongoing patience in this matter.
Your faithful servant, rear admiral Major Bumsaw"

Very funny, but what a sad state of affairs our navy and forces are in. We are spending more on our benefits force than armed forces. Unbelievable, mainly for people who are slightly anxious on a Monday morning.
It was clear as day it was all going to kick off with Iran any moment, you don’t build up such a huge (US) force for nothing.
Apparently the navy gave this so called government the option of sending a destroyer last week, but Sir Qeir Stammer did nothing.

I think Steir Karmer should do whatever the yanks tell him, as it's blatantly obvious we will need their military help. "Dear Mr whoever, could you please give the UK at least two months' notice if you intend attacking us, as we need to get ready. It takes us a while".

@Gwest44 if you can please take some catapults on your trip, that would greatly help the air defence.
HMS Delayed will be there in May.
Hope your holiday works out for you. Be safe.

She's been dead almost 13 years and would still be more use than "he ain't Churchill".
It's funny, I'll never forget knocking off work one day in August 1990 and getting into the car, turning the radio on to the announcement the Gulf War had started. Was it really that long ago 😲

Tim.

Not to worry the French have their navy to protect us,lets hope they do a better job of stopping missiles than they do stopping rubber dinghies.

I was officially requested to join that one by the RN. :)

It really is hard to comprehend how much of a spineless limp wristed useless excuse of a politician Marxist stammer is, the mind boggles at his utter incompetence and stupidity.
At last, someone who understands Trumps mindset. Tell us John, what goes on in there? Do you remember Iraq?

The mini rant was about Starmer BeeEmm, but I’m afraid we’re all stuck with the 2 clowns 🤡 for a while, although hopefully ours will be gone very soon.

Yes I remember Iraq.

I know I don’t need to ask if you’ve heard of WW2.
