Ok so when i finish work at 5 tonight im driving from my home town in Halifax down to my Fiancee in Bedford, a good 165+ miles down the M1!!

Question is this!!

Roof lowered or up on the M1??

by up do you mean lowered. i would have said roof down all the way, you know she will make you put it up because it messes her hair

lol by up i mean "up" as in the roof up?? and the fiancee wont be driving down with me, ill be on my own! not sure what its going to be like at 70+mph with with roof lowered??

I've driven my M up and down the M11, 25 miles each way for the last 3 days with the roof down at 70+mph.... you can't beat it in this weather!!

EDIT: Hang on I think I may have voted wrong too... I selected "Down" but I think you've worded it wrong.... :?

Roof down, but avoid the M1, there's got tbe another more fun way, ok so it may take a bit longer :driving: .

I have no problems doing 85mph (Speed limit is 70 so it's not THAT bad... lol) with the top down as long as it's above ~60*F - 15*C if you are into that sort of thing. I don't know what temps you are having over there but even if it's chilly, top down with windows up + heat on full is pretty tolerable.

I vote Be a Man!! :)

EDIT: Wait... shouldn't it be 'UP - It could be Windy!!' and DOWN - Be a Man!!'?! I think I voted wrong... lol Be a man and put the top down!

Before I vote, have you got them the wrong way round... Surely Down is being a man ?

As for top-down on the motorway, I have been told that even at 98mph with a wind deflector fitted and windows up it's totally fine. Just turn the music up if you don't like the wind noise. Apparently.

Fastest I have seen on the speedo is 167 and natrualy the roof was down. Was a little noisy I recall, but you certainly don't get blown away.

Driving on UK motorways I normaly stick to 65-70, as I find you can have a conversation or listen to the radio at that sort of speed, which is a good thing on a long run.

Wndows up makes a huge difference. Oh and NO maps or paper work on the passerger seat, as they will vanish skywards. :o

Roof always down. In this weather, its actually illegal to drive a roadster with the roof up :fuelfire:

has to be roof down in this weather. if not you should have bought a coupe. :D

At least if he did buy a coupe he would have enjoyed the ride even more due to the more rigid and planted feel thus increasing the driving experience!

Down, it will be fine at 70 I'm sure.

I used to enjoy the odd 185mph moments with the roof down and the BOSE up in my last car (all perfectly legal too :D )

Glad I don't have this dilemma! Get in, start up, select tunes, and bury the throttle! If its hot, climate control is brilliant!

Up - be a man (but recognise a real man would have bought a coupe)
Down - it could be windy (but hairdressers are used to the hair dryers so shouldn't be a problem) :P

I say down - if you have a convertible sports car and keep the top up in the summer just in case it's a bit windy at speed, you should sell it and buy a Focus! I drove 200 miles on the motorway at "normal cruising speed" with the windows open yesterday and I was deaf but happy :D

Trying to to turn your coupe into a roadster? :poke: :)

Nope! Driving my stiff, aerodynamic ///M to and from a track day where it performed like only a coupe could :P
