Hilti battery drill

I have a Hilti 36volt battery drill from my 'working days'. The battery is now totally flat and doesn't charge. The charger is showing a solid green light when connected. Does anyone have any sensible ideas. From past experience, Hilti are very expensive for diagnostics and repairs.

How old is the battery?
Batteries dont last forever and maybe its just past its best.
I had a B&D drill and the batteries would show green on the charger but had no power. Replaced the batteries and it was fine.
Or did it go from working one day to not working the next?

The battery is around ten years old but had very little use which I know is not good. I last used the drill about three months ago, tried again yesterday but flat and now will not charge. I could justify the cost of a new battery if I am sure that is the problem.

i'd echo the dead battery comments based around experience with a couple of similar devices being left flat over a Winter (strimmer, etc.). New batteries and all was well.

Could you try a shop that sells the battery and 'test' one before buying? Dare I say even buy one from an online trader and return if it's 'not suitable'

Sure there are company's who refurb the battery packs on high end tools , inside is basically rechargeable batteries taped together 7 if you can get the battery apart you could probably have a go yourself , nothing to lose if its duff anyhow :?

Hi Roy,

The battery is very likely to be dead. Battery technology has moved on significantly since 10 years ago. I'll ask one of our engineers as I work for a rival powertool company :D

That would be good, thanks. Please keep me posted.
