What is highline spec ?

And why do some cars that are described as M sport highline have an SE style bumper on ?

I thought there was only 2 different bumpers for all the models... standard and the m sport one.
Is SE not just a spec on the E85 and not on the E89s?

Yea..

But there are M sport cars with non m sport bumpers on being sold as " M sport highline"

I don't get it..

Yet... If you put the Reg number into database the ones that have the "SE" bumper on come back as "M sport highline"

full details of what the highline package added for both standard and M Sport models can be found here:

What Database is this you are using?

Afaik highline was based on the SE and not M Sport. Quite what highline added over SE I can't recall.

One of the newer members has recently purchased from a main dealer a 23i Highline M Sport. It added a few goodies over the standard spec but it's not listed anywhere in the litature I have.

Edit - thanks Z4 IDM, I was just looking for that  looks like it was extras added for a 'run out' model as the following year builds we got the 4 cylinders

So I dont know the definition in more recent times but a few years ago I owned a 1988 635Csi Highline. The highline was a model variant indicating it had additional features and was one of the last produced (87/88 onwards). Some of the spec included highline bumpers, leather dash, etc

Not sure if this applies to the above but I do know around the mid 2000s I saw the name started popping up again, perhaps the same thing?

Thanks....

The database I use is DVLA..

Even though the specs are somewhat explained in the link.... I still can't work out why the standard bumpered car with 296's should come up at M sport...

Tried it on the 3 different cars for sale..

I would have thought the M front bumper would be a prerequisite for a car being described as "M sport"..

looked this up prev as was looking at a highline - sat nav bluetooth as standard and few minor visual upgrades like gloss black kidneys i think

Not sure what's going on there but yes M Sport should have the M Sport front and rear bumpers too. If it doesn't look like a M Sport then it won't be. Given the age have you used the BMW Warranty site to check what it comes up as? Then you'll be able to get the vin if you then want to check what spec it has.
