Highline Edition - Questions

I have a copy of every E89 UK price list that BMW released from 2009 - 2014 and the only mention of the Highline Edition is in the 2011 brochure.

In addition to listing the additional standard equipment provided on the sDrive23i & sDrive23i/30i M Sport variants the brochure highlights the following "Available exclusively on three BMW Z4 models, BMW Z4 Highline Editions have been designed to provide a select combination of additional features saving £2,115 on Z4 sDrive23i and £2,125 on Z4 sDrive23i/30i M Sport models." but there is no mention of total price.

So my questions are:

  • Was the Highline Edition only available on 2011 model year cars?
Was the Highline Edition only available on the 23i and 30i variants and not the 35i, 35is or 4 cylinder variants (18i, 20i & 28i)?
What was the base price of the highline editions?

Any insight gratefully received

It was a UK only end of line tart up of a few bits to clear the models 23i/30i before the 20i/28i came in..

So a few goodies at a discounted price..

Someone on the Pistonheads website posted a temporarily free link to the Autocar magazine archives - all 129 years worth (no point posting the link here since it will be dead in a few days). I think first two questions are already answered but looking at the November 2011 edition - prices are:

2.5 sDrive 23i Highline Edition £31,675
2.5 sDrive 23i M Sport Highline Edition £35,880
3.0 sDrive 30i M Sport Highline Edition £39,075

Doesn't stipulate but guessing these will for the manual gearbox, and again, with the already indicated options.

My 2009 std car, came with iDrive, kansas leather sport seat as only extra options bought for £29k.
Those later editions don't seem to add much.
Main difference i think was the restyled bumpers.

Mine is a 3.0 msport auto highline. Auto was a cost extra not part of the package. All highline did for my model was add grills and pull together the connectivity stuff and the big wheels. All the rest still were options- such as e/seats, etc etc.

My 3.0 Highline hasn’t got gloss black kidney grills, I wonder if a previous owner swapped them out? Am not entirely happy with the plain plastic finish I’ve got and don’t suppose anyone has a pair of gloss ones for sale?

Strange most folks swap the silver or grey ones out for gloss black..about £100 for a pair of pukka ones..

My 23i Msport highline seemed to have loads of added options, while I think they were all part of the highline package others think they are additional items.

Mine had addition storage and lighting pack, F&R PDC, heated seats, iDrive from memory

From another forum posted back in 2011.

Seems the Highline Edition was heavily discounted by dealers to get those 6 cylinder engine variants out of the door before the replacement engine line-up.
