Higher profile tyres

Does anyone know if it would be possible to swap my 35 profile tyres for 40? According to my calculations it would raise the car by 12.5mm but my next mod is an eibach kit which would lower it back down again.

My thinking is the ride would be better over our crumbling roads with more 'give', perhaps why the Z4M uses them.

Or would it just look like a monster truck?

ETA i know the speedo would be slightly out but i could live with that.

To do it correctly you should really drop the rim size and keep the rolling radius the same.

Speedo will be out of course and the gearing changed too. Insurers will need informing for fitting incorrect sized tyres.

Interesting idea, for the last 9 months i have been running on some old Star spoke 71's 17" am now finally getting round to getting my 108's refurbished been quoted £266 to strip and redo the outers inc machine polish and laquer back to new if I split the rims and remove tyres myself or £480 to refurb the whole wheen including repaint the stars.

Your idea about going up a profile sounds good because i think i will miss the ride quality of the 17's. Does anyone have a pic with the nest profile up on 18" on a standard 3.0i suspension (M suspension UK spec) the 1cm clearence may also save the new bumper I intend to put on too. I think I might even finish this idea off and make sure i add some tyres with a large lip to protect the rims if anyone knows of such a tyre that has good performance.

Thanks
