The miles-call posts made me curious about what mechanical issues people are experiencing with the car at higher mileage. I hope to keep my Z for a long time.
I have had 6 BMW's over the years and once out of warranty I have had few problem of a serious nature. Also in most areas I have lived you can usually find a good independent mechanic that was factory trained on BMW and that will do really good work at a very reasonable cost.
I have a 04 with 121K on the clock. First off do the maintenance. At 101K I needed to replace the throttle valve and at 115K miles I replaced the DISA valve. I am having an issue with the airbag on the passenger side at the moment. This is the complete list since I bought the car new. All other repairs are what I would call normal repairs. Such as Tires, brakes, rotors, wipper blades, oil, filters, ect.
I do use a good independent mechanic. Costs are less than half of taking it to the dealer.
i wanted to repair/replace the vanos seal when inspection 2 is due (in 13k miles). think this is something i should put off???? i read that the seal was an issue with some of our cars.
