High speed brake vibration

Afternoon all,

Had a bit of an issue for a while with high speed hard braking vibrations, by high speed I mean 70+ and rapid deceleration into corners etc.

I've replaced the discs and pads with brembo xtra discs and standard pads front and rear as I thought the problem was warped discs but it appears to be still present just not as bad as it was before. I have checked caliper temps too and the NSF appears to be a hair hotter than the OSF but nothing dramatic. I've also replaced the lollipop bushes with myeleHD ones.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same thing and exactly the same symptoms. Turned out that it was my NSF was sticking intermittently. I replaced it and after a little while for the pads and disc to bed in it went away.

I also did everything you did. But I was treating the symptoms rather than the cause.

I did need new discs all round too though.

I would get your wheel Ballance checked realy carefully. I had very similar symptoms and replaced a set of discs and pads. When it started to return I had the wheels checked for Ballance. front left was a small amount off perfect. That was all it took. The vibrations went after that though it still took a week or so for the pads to settle again.

Hi the cookie125 just a thought would it have anything to do with the anti roll bar bushes as you said it happens when your cornering also hope this helps.

Normally in straight lines its the discs so I’m baffled. Surely it has something too do with the bushes. You’ve tried everything else. Me personally would go round and tighten everything up just to be sure.

I just been reading on a site that it my be due to overt tightening of the wheel nuts. It says tighten in a star rotation with a torque wrench.
Hope that helps

Cheers for that link, I personally think I’ve got a slightly sticking calliper, mileage is 85k so it’s well within the failure range I’ve seen.

If its sticking, you could exercise the caliper in and out a few times to free it up. Its a free job to do before you jump into new calipers. Also check the slider pins arent sticking, as they will cause drag and overheat the pads , which could cause issues. Also check the run out on the discs using a DTI . Pretty simple and will advise on how true the discs are.
