Sorry to hear it's back.

I think the pulley on the left you refer to as being noisy is the air con compressor. Is the noise the same with the compressor on and off?

Sorry, only just noticed this. I haven't singled it out to be honest. I am replacing the belt on wednesday next week, and will check every pulley for noise. Process of elimination tells me its the belt, as the noise went when realigned and lubricated, so by rights, either the grease quietened the pulleys, or the grease and realignment, just temporarily stopped the belt making the rubbing noise on the bottom tensioner pulley. I think the latter to be right.

Will update on wednesday. Im convinced it is a cheap fix now though, as it stopped with minimal effort last time, and isn't as bad as previously.

Sorry, not got round to sorting it yet. I went up to change the serpentine belt, and investigate all the pulleys and alternator today, but left the replacement belt at home, and had to leave it, as I have work. I have booked some time on the ramp on thursday morning, so will post pics, any vids and my findings once I get home.

Will definitely update everyone.

Due to my girlfriends car packing in, and my dads car requiring new discs and pads fitting, plus the fact that we are all broke at the minute.

The repair to my car has been put back, due to me sorting both of their cars out to save money. Whilst its annoying, my repairs are non essential, but WIL be done next week! It's my zeds pamper time without fail!

So, Took the car to the garage today, Took off the serpentine belt, checked each pulley independently, and all tight as a drum, no noise whatsoever......

Proceeded to check the Alternator, no noise either....

So next step was to run the car without the serpentine belt. The noise was still there!!!

After 2 hours searching the car for noises with a stethoscope to my ear, I could only find one noise component. It is located beneath the Alternator, and sounds like a rattly bearing, but I don't know what it is?

Here are some pics, hopefully someone can enlighten me as to what the part is and maybe come up with a suggestion as to what I might try next. Im baffled

That's the Vac pump for the brake servo.....

Never heard of people having issues with them on here, may be worth a Google and see if it comes up on any of the other BMW forums (All of the valvetronic egines will have something similar)

Im just clutching at straws with that part, as its all I could find, that was making any noise that I didn't like. It really is confusing the life out of me this one.......
