high miles

This is my 3rd BMW and first Z. It's my toy, so I don't have to rely on it for daily transport. Given decent care, I was thinking the other day about what kind of longevity I should be able to expect. 100M, 150M, More? Less?

Wondering who has the most miles on their current Z4?

That would probably be Rich, aka CoolZ4, which if I remember correctly, has logged over 200k miles

I guess to some extent the answer depends on how it is driven and assuming it is very well maintained.

The 3.0i engine itself should be good to take the car to 300k miles. On the X5 there are many forum members well into the mid 200's on the same engine. I'd stick a finger in the air at 200k for the 4cyl derivatives.

Rest of the drive components just start to get sloppy so again how taut a car do you want or how much maintenance? I suppose it reaches diminishing returns at some point and the interior/trim starts to look like a taxi..

I wouldn't be surprised if you can go over 400k on the Z4, if maintained well.

Had a 1981 Subaru that I kicked around in college (early 1990s), which finally saw its last days at over 300k miles. All I needed to do was fix the water pump but she was tired. If an 81 Subaru can do it, why not a Z?
