There have been quite a few hood motor failures reported, usually as a consequence of water ingress from blocked drains. The other common failures seem to be rear springs snapping on all models, and front brake callipers seizing on ///Ms. Lambda sensors are consumable parts, more so for some people than others (perhaps driving style-related?), and ABS sensors are a fairly common cause for the DSC and ABS warning lights to common on. Window regulators frequently fail but are relatively easy to fix. Rarely bearing shells fail in the S54 engine, but much less frequently than they did in the early E46 M3s. This is an expensive problem unless you can persuade BMW to replace the engine as an act of goodwill.Geezah said:
2004 2.2R with 123,900, owned for a year, no major issues touch wood, except the dreaded airbag warning, rear discs and pads, expansion tank replaced and sometime later this year replace the front suspension and steering bushes.
