Hid's and auto on?

I read that using hid xenon kit you cannot have the auto light switch on!! Why is this? Any problems with doing this, I though it just simply switched on and off like if I was doing it manually!

You mean retro fitted hid xenons? If so the auto lights do work

There's no reason it won't work as normal.

Perhaps the supplier is recommending it is not used as switching on and off xenon bulbs can damage or shorten their life? That said mine go on and off in the Birmingham tunnels quite happily.

as cj10jeeper mentions, HID bulbs life can be considerably shortened by the number of times they are switched on and off
