right, now the car is sat is slowly becoming my weekend car I have a little time to play with it, and the next topic is hids.
I've looked before but I am so indecisive. eBay bargains? unknown brands? I've seen sunwolf hide on eBay. anyone had any experience with them? will they fit in ok?

cheers

I initially put a 35w canbus kit from Ebay in mine, better but still not great. Swapped them last year for a 55w set, and the difference really is night and day. Perfect beam pattern, same as it was tith the H7's, just LOTS brighter.

Cost was about £20

One of the biggest improvements I got, before fitting the HIDS, is in this thread http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=82010&hilit=headlight

Cleaning the actual lens, there are pics of mine before and after in the thread.

Fitted 35W hids about a month ago and way way better than halogen. I'm tempted to try the 55w version now I know they work okay

Fitted ebay 55w hids about 2 months ago, really impressed with difference. One does occasionally not start if on auto lights... So if buying again would be tempted by a more reputable source.

Been looking at eBay, and I can't make up my mind and don't want to take the risk on a duff set that are £20-30 (unless anyone can recommend one).....

So on HIDSDIRECT I've seen these two that I think would suitable (again unless someone advises towards another thats on there)

and
http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/h7-55w-d-lumina-smart-canbus-hid-xenon-conversion-kit/
Only problem is I have no idea what the difference is?!

The other thing is I think I'm going to go 6000K, but (and yes this may sound stupid) If Its not right can I just change out the lamps for the next K down?

Edit: or for that matter which of those? from what I've read 55W is the way to go, just which set

I bought these just over a year ago..

£15, arrived in a couple of days (UK seller) and has worked perfectly.

Hi Mike,
All arrived and work brilliantly! Hardest bit was where to house the lot. tried zip tying all sorts but in the end it all managed to house and sit nicely on the inner void of the light housing.

Great stuff, thank you! Next step is to clean the lenses but thats another day!

I managed to fit everything inside the headlamp. Give out plenty of light though don't they? How's your beam pattern?

Yes, managed to just slide it all down and fitted nicely. No much to zip tie it to, but I don't think it's going to shuffle about much in there! Yes very bright, although I've only seen them in the daylight they look damn good! I need to set aside some time to clear up the lenses though as being a tight little space between the light unit and the wheel my head doesn't fit! lol. How long does it take from start to finish to do the lenses? I'm not majorly mechanically minded on cars so I'll probably take more time than usual!

Lenses can be done from the rear with the wheels off, but I removed the bumper and headlamps for ease of access as wanted to refurb the outer clear plastic as had clouding. Took me a couple of hours which included the lenses, fitting the hids and renovating the fronts.

Sounds great! Something for a lazy afternoon I think. Won't be for another few weeks till I get the chance though, plus one of my parking sensors has just gone before I fitted the hids this afternoon so plenty to get on with! Lol
