Hide key hole

Since I never use them, plugged my key holes for a "monochrome" look. On the trunk, painted the surround as well. Bumperplug.com sells them painted any BMW color. Since it's a plug originally designed for use on Porsche, I simply needed to shave some of the plastic on the blade that goes into the hole.

Scroll down to plug products. As you can see on my signature pic, I discovered them for their bumper plugs.

Tanks.

How do the bumper plugs look up close? I noticed on the site you have to drill out the existing holes a little bigger, will I still be able to mount the license plate bracket again, or will the holes be too big (lease turn in)? The Z came with the plate bracket and my state requires none. Thanks

I'll get you a pic of the bumper plugs up close asap (they actually look like they came from the manufacturer). The holes will indeed be too big for the original bolts. Not sure if the dealer requires to have that "ugly" frame back when you return the car, specially if your State doesn't require a front plate. You can probably find oversize bolts to fit later and just drill bigger size of holes in that plastic frame I guess.

They look OK like the one for the trunk as i hate the key hole on there should have been behind the badge.

How easy are they to remove with your hands only was wondering what you would do if you lost your key and had to use the Wallet key to enter and start the car

How did you paint the black rubber around the trunk key hole? I tried painting it on my '04 3.0i with touch-up paint and it didn't look perfect. I tried having it painted by a bodyshop and they basically said don't bother because paint is not going to stick on rubber for long. Did you remove the rubber piece first? Thx.

Painted it base coat/clear coat right on the car with touch up. Doesn't look perfect if your standing inches away, but other than that, it's 100 times better than black rubber. It hasn't peeled off yet when hosing, washing or drying, but I don't use a high pressure washer.
