Hidden lights

Go on my son - sign me up to the red & white light club.

Made up with that but now I have a drivers seat that is out of position because I had to move it forward to take the photo and a phone with a smashed screen having dropped it on the seat rail during the data capture process

So the white light eluminates the parcel shelf.
Now THAT has made me laugh! A parcel shelf in an E89. I can't seem to remove it so I can get the three dogs in the back

Welcome. From hence forth we should call it the "R&W club". Nobody shall ever ask what the R is for, as it is of no consequence. Still think it is a laser.

Dear Pondrew, I wish to apply to the registration committee for permission to join the newly established ‘R&W Club’. Our 2010 23i had the extended light package and I supply evidence for the committee’s consideration of the ‘parcel shelf’ mounted lights, clearly showing two apertures; one which illuminates when the doors are opened and another that seems to contain an LED but I can’t make it come on (not sure if that is a good thing or not TBH). Please contact us if you feel there is a requirement to provide any further supporting evidence for the application.

PS no phone was harmed taking the image and no dogs were shamelessly squeezed into the parcel shelf to test its practicality rating.

Jen, Johnbmwz4 discovered the R&W club joining trick.

Turn the side lights on and the red/amber light comes on.

Why ? No body know's ! Is the great thing about joining the club :D

Oh yeah!! It so does!!! Can I pls join now??? 🙏

I’ve noticed another oddity whilst testing this - in the garage in the dark - is that when I turn in side lights (engine not running) the R&W Club lights come on, so do front and rear side lights, but turn on headlights and the red light goes out and so do the front and rear side lights. Well I’m blown…

The R&W club is like fight club in that you never talk about it and more importantly never ever mention the R light - in fact until this post we never mentioned the W light either. Why would we it serves no purpose

In quite moments of reflection I now find myself pondering what on the car is more useless than the R&W lights - and I already have a plan that once I've exhausted that train of thought I can extend the search to consider other makes and models of cars that I've owned.

Jumping ahead of myself somewhat I've already made a mental note that the bead seat I had in my Cortina Mark 5 should never figure in my thought process on this subject - in fact once this Williams v Tan match concludes I might wander off to the garage to see if I can find it. I'm sure it would be the perfect addition to the interior of my E89
