HID Projectors

Hi All,

I did a search and couldn't find an answer to the following.

Are xenon and Halogen projectors different? If so I guess it would make sense to change the halogen projectors when doing an HID fit?

Where would be the best place to source a xenon projector from?

Thanks

It's been mentioned on here before that rings have been seen on halogen lenses which might increase glare. They could be deliberate Fresnel type additions though. I've not seen anything like that on my lenses and get a very sharp cut-off with my HID kit. As for the projectors they will both be elliptical reflectors, as long as the light source is at the focus then there will be no difference.
Why not try the kit and see how you like the output? I am very, very impressed with mine.

Thanks for the reply Steve. I am looking forward to fitting them at the weekend. I will see how they are with the halogen projectors and see if they need changing. Just a quick question: I have seen that people fit HIDs for all of their bulbs i.e. dipped beam, high beam and side lights as well as fogs. Do all of these fitments need ballasts? If so where do they go? they cant all fit in the light casing. How did you fit your side lights Steve?

If you use the original bulb clips then I can't see that you'll have any problems. I had to file the connectors down to fit, preferred that to filing the clips. I've only got them for the dipped beams, wouldn't bother with reflectors as they're not designed for them at all. Doubt you'd find any for sidelights? I roughly followed the guide on here, though once you open up the lights you'll come to the same conclusion. Ballasts securely taped to the inside edge of the housing, plenty of room.
