HID fitment

Just a quick question..

I'm planning to get some HID's fitted on my car next weekend.. They have quoted me 170£ all inclusive (not too sure if that's a good price?) but I'm not too sure what brand of HID'S they will be using.

Does the brand of HID'S make any difference? Or do they all just do the same job?

Also what colour temperature do you All prefer?

HID kit - £50
HID Relay - £10
Labour - ?

Ask them if they'll fit a kit if you supply it because (based on the prices I listed above) £110 for essentially changing a pair of bulbs is a little expensive.
 
I went for 5000k hid kit from HID direct. It's a perfect white light which is what I want, no chavy blue!

Buy the kit and fit yourself it's very easy on this car, the whole kit fits inside the headlight and all plug and plug!

Before you start the install buy some led sidelights as the standard bulbs will look yellow next to the hid kit!
 
Not if you buy hid lights suitable for Canbus. The hid direct are around £65. You will have £105 left for the next mod :thumbsup: and the great satisfaction feeling you get when you DIY saving £££
 
I was quoted 190euros and as a result i bought a kit from hid direct. I received my kit from hid direct yesterday and i plan to fit it tomorrow. How do you secure the balast inside the headlight? Any special instructions will be appreciated :thumbsup:
 
Most don't secure it, including me

There are so many wires in there it stays in place

When you open the kit there is the slim ballast and 2 smaller fatter component per headlight. I sat the 2fat components on top of the ballast and using black insulation tape to secure them neatly in place.

I then used a good quality double sided tape to secure the ballast to the flat side of the inner headlight.

The installation looks very neat!
 
I installed the ballasts today , i used double sided tape and black insulation tape as well and they seem very secure :thumbsup:
My kit has just the ballasts, I think the fat components you mention are the terminators which I was told by hid direct are not needed for the e85.
However, even the slim ballast I have seemed a bit large initially but I managed to fit it easily. The headlights are off the car as I am working towards a clear light conversion on the car after I managed to source both headlights (after 6-7 months :wink: ) hence it was much easier to work on them.

However, I had an issue with one of the bulbs, the one got in place easily but the other one could not. I tried it on both headlights with no luck whereas the other one could be secured on both headlights. It seems that either the diameter is slightly smaller or the "spring" is not working as it should. I emailed hid direct and I am waiting for their reply. Any ideas???? :?
